While Ellinor was chatting with her mother, Theo was seated quietly by their side, peeling apples for the
two women.

Just as Thaddeus was about to retort, Bertha quickly tugged on her husband’s arm and said, “Mr.
Blanchet, we came to apologize to you and Ellinor.”

Theo scoffed. He didn’t believe that Thaddeus had such intentions.

Bertha forced a laugh. “Then don’t order anything. Eat while it’s still hot. I wasn’t sure what you guys
would like, so I ordered a few dishes based on your mom’s preferences.” Ellinor gave her a faint smile.
“We can eat later. Bertha, you brought this man here, so he must have something to say to us, right?”
Since Ellinor asked, Bertha nodded honestly. “Ellinor, he came to apologize to you and Mr. Blanchet.
We’re sorry for separating your family and causing you pain these past three years. It’s our fault.
Thaddeus, you should apologize to the children!”
Thaddeus kept his face stern. He seemed reluctant to speak.
Lea tugged on her father’s hand. “Dad, come on! You need to set a good example for your daughter!”
Thaddeus cast a glance at his younger daughter, then finally forced himself to speak. “I apologize for
the trouble I’ve caused you both over the past three years. It was my fault, and I’m sorry.”
He spoke very fast, and his apology lacked sincere remorse.
Ellinor tilted her head and exchanged a look with Theo. They understood each other.
Then, Ellinor looked at Thaddeus, whose face showed no remorse, and finally rested her gaze on
Bertha. “So, Bertha, you want us to forgive him just like that?”
