After putting the three kids to bed following their evening bath, Ellinor found herself exhausted. She

leaned against the bedpost and absentmindedly scrolled through her. phone.

Bertha had sent her a message earlier in the evening, updating her on Marlinie’s new hospital and

room number.

However, the message she’d sent to that man remained unanswered.

Playing the disappearing act again, was he?

Ellinor sighed, feeling worn out by these games of hide and seek. They were tiresome and draining.

Feeling weary, she decided to call it a night.

Tomorrow morning, she needed to take the kids to the preschool to process their withdrawal. After what

happened with Baber, Ellinor had no intention of sending her children back there.

It was disheartening to see her children being used as pawns in this game of rumor-mongering. Too

many whispers were circulating about Baber’s biological parents.

Rumors were a beast impossible to tame.

She decided to withdraw them from the preschool, let them rest at home for a while, and then find

another preschool.

The following morning, after breakfast, Ellinor and the kids left the house.

There was a balloon vendor near the preschool entrance who bore a striking resemblance to the figure

she had seen the previous day near the Mendoza family home.Books Chapters Are Daily Updated Join

Subconsciously, Ellinor led the kids around the balloon vendor and into the preschool.

She had their respective teachers help them pack up their personal belongings, then she went to see

the Director, Jessica, to finalize her kids’ withdrawal.

Jessica was oblivious to Ellinor’s real identity and offered only polite platitudes. She didn’t make any

real effort to retain them, probably not wanting to offend the other child’s more affluent parents.

Ellinor didn’t waste time with Jessica. Once the paperwork was done, she collected the kids’

belongings and left the preschool with them.

The balloon vendor was gone when they came out.

Ellinor didn’t think much of it. She loaded the kids and their belongings into the car, preparing to drive

home.

Just as she was turning the car around, several black vehicles suddenly appeared, blocking her way.

Ellinor instantly became alert. With the kids in the car, she didn’t want any confrontations. She tried to

reverse, only to find that several more black cars had blocked her path from behind.

Apparently, there was no escape.

Remaining calm, she instructed the children on what to do. “Stay in the car and don’t get out without

my permission. No matter what happens.”

The kids obediently nodded.

Once she had ensured their safety, Ellinor got out of the car and locked it behind her.

Standing between rows of black cars, she asked, “Who are you? What do you want?”

A man stepped out of one of the cars, leading a chubby little boy.

Ellinor recognized them immediately. It was the boy whom Baber had taught a lesson and his

overprotective father.

“Hey, remember us?” The father called out in a coarse voice.

Ellinor remained composed as she watched the father-son duo. “Get to the point! Don’t you think

blocking the road like this inconveniences innocent people?”

The father laughed boisterously. “I couldn’t care less! I’ve been staking this place out for days, just to

corner you!”

Ellinor felt a wave of disgust wash over her. She found it hard to believe that such an irresponsible and

foolish man could even be a parent.
