“My two friends are getting married today, and it wouldn’t look good if I didn’t show up. Plus, my kids
are still there.”
Hearing this, Bertha felt slightly relieved. “Alright, you go then. Once your mom and I get to the new
hospital, I’ll give you a ring.”
“Thanks.” Ellinor nodded. She gently patted Lea on the head before turning to leave, oblivious to Byran,
who was sneakily observing from a corner.
After leaving the hospital, Ellinor didn’t head straight back to the wedding venue. Instead, she drove to
the Mendoza family home, a place she hadn’t stepped foot in for many
years.
The Mendoza household was in chaos.
Arnold had just returned from the hospital and was on the warpath with Tracy and her daughter.
“You two sure have guts! You brandished a knife and hurt someone! Do you even realize who you’ve
injured? You’ve crossed some serious lines, and you’ve dragged me into this mess with you!”
Tracy and her daughter were kneeling on the floor, bruised, and crying.
Sheila was uncontrollably crying. “Dad! Mom and I didn’t mean to… We thought those two women were
trying to seduce you!”
Tracy added, “Exactly! Arnold, I did it because I care about you. I didn’t want you to be stolen by
another woman. We’ve already been punished enough, so please don’t dwell on this any longer,
okay?”
Amold scoffed. “You care about me? Or do you care more about the property in my name? Tracy, don’t
think I don’t know why you’re with me. I’ve seen right through you and the way you’re raising our
daughter!”
Sheila protested. “Dad, how could you say that about me?! I’m your flesh and blood!”
Arnold, with his swollen face and numerous injuries, was in pain. He was about to chastise his
hypocritical daughter when a knock at the door startled him.
More visitors?
The menacing men in black had just left. Who could be causing trouble now?
All three of them had just been given a harsh lesson, so the knock at the door evoked fear.
Arnold struggled to the door and asked hesitantly, “Who’s there?”
“Me, Ellinor.”
Surprised, Arnold hesitated before opening the door to see Ellinor’s stern face.
Arnold, now somewhat fearful of Ellinor, asked, “Why are you here? Is there something you need?”
Ellinor, seeing Arnold’s battered state, smirked. “What’s the matter? Can’t I come in for a bit?”
Arnold looked around and, after confirming that Ellinor was alone, opened the door wider. “Come in.”
Ellinor strolled in only to find Tracy and her daughter, bruised and kneeling on the floor.
After seeing Ellinor, Sheila gritted her teeth in anger. “Why are you back?”
Tracy also glared at Ellinor. “You choose to come back now, of all times. If it’s not to gloat, then what is
it?”
