Thaddeus didn’t want to part ways. He was deeply in love with this woman. Otherwise, he wouldn’t
have humbled himself to come looking for her.
“Bertha, I know you don’t like Sophia, but she’s my own flesh and blood. I can’t abandon her.”
Bertha replied indifferently. “I don’t dislike Sophia. She’s the one who doesn’t like me and refuses to
accept me. I don’t want to force her, and I don’t want to force myself either, Thaddeus. I hope you can
understand my decision.”
Thaddeus was frantic. “I can’t understand! We can’t just get a divorce like this. We’ve spent most of our
lives together. Marriage isn’t something you can just walk away from!”
Bertha looked helpless. “Thaddeus…”
Thaddeus raised his hand to stop her from speaking. “Enough! If you’re willing to come back with me,
then we can all go back together as a family. If you’re not, then I’ll have someone bring my belongings
over, and I’ll live here with you!”
Bertha furrowed her brows. “What are you doing? Are you going to act like a child at your age?”
Their daughter, Lea, interrupted them. “Dad, you’re not put off by this pigeon coop anymore?”
Thaddeus waved her off. “Shoo! I’m talking to your mother. You’re still a kid, so don’t interrupt. Bertha,
tell me, are you coming back with me? Or should I live here with you?” Bertha was at a loss for words.
She knew Thaddeus well enough. He was a man of his word, and he would actually have his
belongings moved over.
This was a place owned by an old friend of hers who could come back at any moment.
Just as Bertha was worrying about how to talk to Thaddeus, Lea suddenly stood up and whispered
something into her ear.
After hearing what Lea had to say, Bertha was stunned. She then looked at her daughter, seriously
considering whether her suggestion was feasible.
Seeing this, Thaddeus frowned deeply. “Lea, what kind of harebrained idea are you giving your mother
now?”
Lea shrugged innocently. “Dad, all I did was try to convince Mom to go back with you. Stop blaming
me, okay?”
Still skeptical, Thaddeus turned to his wife. “Bertha, what did Lea tell you?”
Bertha snapped back to reality and looked at him. “Lea suggested that we’d go back with you now, on
one condition.”
Thaddeus was overjoyed to hear this. “Okay, tell me. I’ll agree to any condition, as long as it’s within my
power. Even if you want the moon, I’ll get it for you.”
Lea clapped her hands. “Yay! Dad, you better keep your word. I’m bearing witness here.”
Thaddeus gave his daughter a stern look. He knew she must have come up with some crazy idea, but
how bad could it be?,
“Mom, tell Dad our condition quickly, so he can’t back out later.” Lea urged.
Bertha looked deeply into Thaddeus’s eyes. “Thaddeus, if you promise me this one thing, Lea and I will
go back with you right now. You need to let Marcus go back to his real family and Let him be reunited
with his real wife.”
Thaddeus was stunned. He never imagined that this would be his wife’s condition.
Marcus was Sophia’s husband now. Just this morning, Sophia had taken him to the hospital to prepare
for an artificial insemination. How could Marcus possibly go back to his old life and his-real wife at this
point?
Sophia would never agree to this. It was impossible!
