Chapter 4636 Eighteen Monks

Prev Chapter Next Chapter

Right behind the middle-aged monk, the old temple released a large amount of the power of faith which

immediately transformed into a white fog.

The middle-aged monk put his palms together and seriously said to Austin and Julian, "Sirs, I'm afraid

you must leave now. Please.

There are only monks and Buddhas in this place. Outsiders like you are not welcome here."

As he spoke, he suddenly emitted a blinding light. Austin and his son felt that every inch of the monk's

flesh was glowing. At the same time, the overwhelming Buddhist power shrouded them.

Both Austin and Julian felt that their bodies were sinking as the invisible Buddhist power landed on

them.

"As we all know, Buddha himself guides the pre-destined people who are also known as the chosen

ones.

But what is the specific criteria to be considered as part of the pre-destined people? How will you know

if you are one of the chosen ones?

Are the so-called powerful monks like you the ones who set that standard? Are you the ones who

choose who among us will be guided by Buddha?

If you meet people you see eye to eye with, you will regard them as one of the pre-destined people. But

if you don't like them or you're not in good terms with them, you would say that they are not the chosen

ones.

So, if that were the case, then we all must play by your rules. We must do everything to win your favors

and prove to you that we should be part of the so-called chosen ones.

But people who fail to win your favor will never ever have access to this place.

If you don't like a certain person even though he believes in Buddhism,

you will never let him enter this place, will you?"

Austin retorted back at the monk.

Hearing Austin's sharp words, the middle-aged monk fell completely silent.

After a while, he finally opened his mouth to speak.

"There is absolutely no standard for the chosen ones since everything is already written in the stars. If

we meet the pre-destined people, we will definitely give him guidance.

After all, Buddha will always guide the pre-destined people—the chosen ones," he carefully replied.

"Humph! In the end, you still decide whether we are part of the chosen people or not.

That's completely ridiculous.

Besides that, I often heard that Buddha could free people from their misery.

Tell me, who exactly could be saved?"

Austin asked again with a sneer.

"Sir, you are highly intelligent and eloquent. And I can also sense that you are powerful and strong.

So, it's really a shame that you are not one of the chosen people. Please leave now,"

the middle-aged monk said with a disappointed sigh.

"Humph! You're really just talking nonsense, so stop it.

We are all equal in Buddha's eyes, and anyone with Buddha's nature must have a fair chance to

become a real Buddha.

There is no difference between us in Buddha's eyes. You're the only one here who has prejudices. You

have absolutely no right to get in my way.

So, just go away!" Austin shouted at him.

His face immediately darkened since he was already getting angrier by the minute.

The middle-aged monk was extremely surprised to hear that. He was also taken aback by Austin's

sudden display of what seemed like anger or rage.

After what seemed like a long time, he put his palms together and said, "Amitabha!

Sir, I must say that you are too arrogant and stubborn. You got Buddhism all wrong.

This is an especially important place for Buddhism. So, I'm asking you once again to please leave

now."

"What if I insist on breaking in? What will you do, huh?"

Austin finally lost his patience and didn't want to talk more nonsense with this middle-aged monk.

He finally took a step forward, and a blade immediately flew out of his body.

The blade emitted a dazzling radiance and was aimed at the monk.

"Ah! Amitabha!

Has it really come to that? Well, that's too bad," the middle-aged monk said as he shook his head,

looking disappointed.

Then, he suddenly raised his head and two beams of dazzling light suddenly shot out from his eyes.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The sky violently shook, and then the Sumeru Mountain released the tremendous power of faith that

soared into the sky. In a blink of an eye, it transformed into tens of thousands of silver ribbons that

hung down.

The overwhelming power of faith glowed brightly as it directly dashed towards Austin.

"Bald man, do you think I'm afraid of you? I'm not afraid of you at all! Bring it on," Austin shouted at

him.

Austin's clothes were fluttering, and his long black hair danced in the wind. Then, he waved his blade at

the power of faith.

His blade was a magic treasure from a god of chaos. Although he was not yet strong enough to

unleash its full power, he could still activate a part of its power which was still powerful.

His strike was very potent. The blade gave off a bright radiance, and the space around it rumbled as it

moved forward.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

As the blade came into contact with the power of faith, the space around them quaked. The power of

faith stopped in its tracks, and so did the weapon. The radiance released by the weapon advanced

extremely far and then dissipated.

Then, a big explosion followed, and an earsplitting sound was heard. Due to the impact, Austin

staggered a few steps back and the power of faith disappeared.

Austin gasped with utter surprise and fear.

'This middle-aged monk is way too powerful even for me. He made me step back in just one move,' he

thought to himself as he narrowed his eyes at his opponent.

He definitely underestimated the monk.

He didn't expect that he would bump into such a powerful monk in this remote place. He wasn't

prepared for it and was taken aback.

"Master, this outsider is not fit to be your opponent. Please don't waste your time and energy anymore

We got him already."

Suddenly, a loud roar sounded out of nowhere.

Then, the other monks appeared beside the middle-aged monk one after another. There were eighteen

of them in total, and they all stood in a straight line.

Each of them emitted a golden light because of their golden-colored skin. It looked like they were made

from gold. There was a halo at the back of each of their heads and they gave off a solemn aura which

made it feel like they were holy.

The one in the middle was wearing a golden robe. His eyebrows were white as snow, and his face was

incredibly wrinkled. He looked at Austin with an indifferent expression.

"Ah, here you are finally.

It turns out that you are all just a bunch of brigands. You even pretend to be monks to fool people.

Shame on all of you!"

Austin sarcastically said.

"Who are you and how dare you talk to us like this?

Evil people like you are forbidden to approach the sacred place for Buddhists,"

one of the eighteen monks yelled back at Austin.

What Austin said totally upset all the eighteen monks. Over the years, no one dared to disrespect them

or stir up trouble on the Sumeru Mountain like what Austin was doing. This was the first time in a very

long time, so it was unacceptable for the monks.

"Get out of here now or we will have no choice but to terminate you to eliminate the evil from this

peaceful place," the monk with white eyebrows yelled again at Austin.

The other seventeen monks also threateningly glared at Austin.

But the middle-aged monk remained calm.

Meanwhile, Julian got excited as he watched the scene.

"Humph! Counter-bollocks. I think my father is a genuinely good man, while you are the bad people!

Dad, kick their asses now! What are you waiting for?"

he excitedly shouted as he wanted to see more action.

The middle-aged monk turned to look at Julian. When he saw Julian, he trembled slightly. Then, he

intensely stared at the boy from head to toe.

"Huh? Who are you? What is this?

This kid is terribly amazing!" he quietly murmured to himself.

"In that case, I have nothing to say to you. Show me what you've got," Austin suddenly shouted.

With that, the blade in his hand shone and was growing bigger.

Suddenly, oceans of dazzling radiance swept forward, engulfing the entire space.

The blade didn't stop to grow until it was the size of a mountain. Then, Austin waved it at the eighteen

monks who were the middle-aged monk's disciples. His strike contained an infinite blade intent which

was immensely powerful.

"We believe that life is precious. But since you are an evil person and you're just making trouble here,

we will have to subdue you and it will involve violence," the monk with white eyebrows roared.

With that, he and the other seventeen monks emitted a golden blinding light and fought Austin. They

took advantage of the power of faith.

This was really a tough fight. Austin used the secret blade skills and the law of reincarnation to attack

them and he also set up brilliant arrays to attack the eighteen monks.

However, the eighteen monks were also incredibly powerful. Each of them mastered several

extraordinary secret skills. Besides that, they could also use the power of faith of the Sumeru Mountain

to their advantage. So, their fighting power was absolutely terrifying.

Even though Austin went all out, he failed to get past his opponents. He tried several times but to no

avail.
