No Useful Information
Jordy‘s brows furrowed once again. Even the air in the office turned colder.
Through the receiver, it sent a shiver down Angela‘s spine.
Her face changed. She muttered after taking a breath, “I was suspended from my job.”
Jordy‘s eyes were glazed.
In the next instant, he pretended that he didn‘t know anything and did his best to soften his voice.
“What happened?”
Angela‘s brows were knitted together. From the start, she didn‘t want to call Jordy, but her mother was
relentless. She was asked to let Jordy hate Gloria even more before they moved on to the next step of
their plan, but would it work?
She gritted her teeth. In such a situation, she had to go on with it.
“It‘s confidential. I can‘t tell you. I… just didn‘t expect Gloria to misunderstand me. She and I seem to
be drifting apart. Gloria taunted and threatened me. What should I do to reconnect with her?”
Angela was well disguised. People would think that she was a helpless cousin rather than a mischief–
maker.
The annoyance was distinct in Jordy‘s eyes. He said, “How am I supposed to help you if you don‘t tell
me?”
Angela‘s eyes flickered as she sobbed, “You have a point. You‘re not an outsider. Yesterday, Gloria
showed me a proposal and told me about her intention to work with the Brown Group. Mr. Brown
required her presence at the site. Gloria is inexperienced. If anything went wrong, her reputation would
be at stake and the image of our company would be damaged, so I rejected it.”
Jordy‘s face turned colder.
Unaware of Jordy‘s real intention, Angela continued to sob, “But Gloria went to see the shareholders
without telling me perhaps because of her ambition or other purposes. At the meeting, many people
called me incapable and my decision stupid, but I…”
Angela only talked about the trivial and refused to mention a word of Gloria‘s effort.
Jordy failed to hear what he wanted to know, but there was no way he could ask about it.
Without turning a hair, he said, “So, you got suspended.”
Angela froze. This was not a small issue, but Jordy sounded so indifferent.
She took a light breath and said, “I‘ve never received such punishment before. I… was for the good of
Gloria and the company.”
She was implying that her cousin was ignorant and ungrateful. She treated Gloria so well, but the latter
got her in such a situation.
In her view, Jordy would be disgusted.
Then she would proceed with the next step of their plan.
However…
“Angela, your health is poor. Why don‘t you take the chance to rest for some time? As for Gloria,
humph…”
With his snort, Angela‘s eyes lit up. Grasping the phone, she waited for Jordy‘s following speech, but
he stopped talking.
That was because he realized that he couldn‘t get any useful information from Angela.
After a while, Jordy‘s bland voice came again.
