Why Do You Ask?
As Kristina and Jennifer probably guessed, George just wanted to improve himself as a lawyer. Only by
dealing with stronger opponents could he make it happen. Otherwise, there would be little hope that he
could be an exceptional lawyer in this life.
Under everyone’s expectant gaze, Gloria spoke slowly.
“First of all, Ms. Hayes is not too busy to take care of her child. Instead, she spends time with her child
every day. She does everything she has to do as a mom.”
“Second, Ms. Hayes has told me that she will not marry again and will bring her son up. And she’s not
starting a new relationship. Please show us evidence, Counsel.”
“Third, Ms. Hayes will raise a successful son, not a spoiled one. If a mother spoils her son, he possibly
cannot succeed. I think Mr. Brooks may have heard this. The child doesn’t understand this at this age,
so he complains to you sometimes. Is this the way you try to win him over?”
Brooks Brandon was Kristina’s ex-husband. George was calm and silent.
Brandon was worried. He wanted to retort, but he didn’t dare to say anything after taking a furtive
glance at George sitting next to him.
Gloria spoke again.
“Mr. Brooks, is it true that during your marriage, you drank often and even beat your family members
and neglected your child?”
‘Of course not!” Brandon retorted.
Gloria looked at the judge. “Your Honor, I have evidence, including the video and the recording.”
Brandon screamed in his head.Since you’ve got evidence, why do you ask?
Gloria submitted the evidence to the court and said, “He drank, gambled, slept with prostitutes, and
beat his family members. I can’t believe he can take good care of his child.”
“What did you say? Miss White, you must not tell lies in court!” Brandon’s face blanched.
Gloria didn’t even look at him but stared at the judge. “Your Honor, I also have evidence about Mr.
Brooks’ marital infidelity.”
Brandon was aghast.
What?
Kristina found so much joy in seeing Brandon like this!
She had thought it would be really hard to win the case!
But… Gloria stepped in and helped her find the evidence!
That really surprised Kristina. She was thrilled to learn that and didn’t even know how to thank Gloria.
George’s face dropped. He turned his eyes to Brandon sitting next to him. “Did you cheat on her?”
George didn’t speak into the microphone but muttered under his breath to Brandon.
Brandon changed color and opened his mouth to retort.
George went on coldly, “If you want to lie to me now, I’ll step out.”
“Yes… I did.”
“So Gloria was telling the truth?”
Brandon turned even paler, and his lips quivered. He fell silent, but the look on his face said it all.
George’s face hardened. He hated it when his client told lies, which caused problems for him in court!
Gloria said, “That’s all about their private lives. I would like to say that Mr. Brooks has never been a
good father. The child is not always with his mother, but sometimes he stays with his father for a few
days. Mr. Brooks once left the child to the servant and went out for a drink. Mr. Brooks, why do you fight
for custody of the child? Is it to make sure that you’ll be looked after when you get old?”
