As they were walking off, Nydia got anxious. “Damn, can we talk about it later? I’m going to have dinner
with Gloria. Didn’t you say you were hungry too?”
George sneered, “What’s the rush? They haven’t gone far yet! Besides, Claude invited Gloria to dinner.
Even he has to yield to her. What are you worried about?”
Nydia sneered, “You tell me. She is my best friend. Besides…”
She snorted, “Isn’t Jordy your buddy? You’re coming along for his sake, aren’t you? How are you going

your friend? What’s that look on your face?”
George was pissed off. He let go of her and huffed, “You’re right. I’m doing this for my friend. It has
nothing to do with you!”
He then headed in Gloria’s direction without another look at her.
Nydia found the man unreasonable. She cursed, hurried to catch up with Gloria, and grabbed her arm.
Gloria noticed Nydia’s sullen face. Her eyes flickered, and she said, “Why don’t you go back? Claude
won’t do anything to me. He doesn’t dare.”
“No, I can’t rest my mind at ease. In the presence of so many people, he won’t have a chance to do
anything,” Nydia said in a firm tone. Even though she was in a bad mood, she would not leave her
friend behind. It was not in her dictionary.
Gloria pursed her lips, aware that Nydia would not go whatsoever. Besides, she knew that nothing
would happen today and thus let Nydia come along.
They soon reached the car. George went straight to the driver’s side and proposed, “I’ll drive.”
Gloria glanced at the man, aware of who he did this for. Nevertheless, she handed the car keys to him.
“Thank you.”
Without another word, George got in the car. Nydia took the backseat instead of riding shotgun.
Irene was not familiar with George. In the end, Gloria took the passenger seat.
While driving, George glanced at Nydia through the rearview mirror from time to time. Her heartless
look annoyed him even more.
