Too Embarrassed to Say That
Nydia and Jennifer were both surprised.
“Did you downplay the danger of it? I just feel something wrong,” said Nydia, glancing at Gloria in the
rearview mirror.
Jennifer looked at Gloria silently.
Gloria hesitated for a moment before she spoke softly.
“He cared about me as much as he had done before, but I could feel that he was getting more discreet.
And his voice was kind of laden with mixed emotions. After making sure I was OK, he said he would
leave me alone and then hung up.”
Nydia was surprised. “Really? Did he really say that?”
Gloria nodded. “Yeah.”
Nydia made a left turn and then said, “Oh no, why do I feel like he’s a different person? I can’t believe
that came out of his mouth. He loves to be with you every day, doesn’t he? He has been in love with
you for so long after all.”
“I was a bit surprised, but since he said so, I could only play along. I didn’t want to give him hope.”
Gloria didn’t sound very curious but calm.
Jennifer took a breath and said with mixed feelings, “I’m the reason he’s like this. I don’t know if it’s
right or wrong.”
Nydia sensed something wrong. She spotted a parking space on the side of the road, drove over
immediately, and then parked the car.
Gloria turned back to Jennifer. Instead of pressing her, Gloria was waiting for her to speak.
Since Jennifer started it, she would keep going.
After parking the car, Nydia immediately turned to look at Jennifer. “Tell us what happened. Is it
something we don’t know? That sounds weird. Say it. I already parked the car.”
Jennifer let out a sigh of frustration and told them what had happened that day.
Gloria and Nydia were both shocked, but then they felt happy for her.
Nydia nodded in agreement, “It’s good for you to tell Bryson what’s in your heart. It’s not fair for you to
keep it in for so many years. Now he finally knows how hard you have been going through these
years.”
Gloria also nodded. Looking at Jennifer’s nervous face, Gloria took her hand and said softly, “You’ve
got a chance now after you told him you liked him. To be honest, I want you two to get together, not
because I can get rid of him in this way, but because I’m touched by your love for him. You are a good
girl.”
Jennifer took a deep breath and said helplessly, “I was in a daze afterward. I never imagined I would
tell him how I really felt about him in this way. After that, I felt relaxed, but then I was sad. My emotions
went on a roller coaster. Do you understand my feelings?”
“I do,” Gloria responded immediately.
Things between Gloria and Jordy were pretty complicated too.
It could be said that Jennifer was going through the things that Gloria went through.
Jennifer sighed again with mixed feelings. After a moment’s hesitation, she whispered.
“I wanted to tell you this, but I had no courage.”
Nydia looked back at Jennifer. “Hey, you always say whatever you like, but why did you feel too
embarrassed to tell us that? We’re friends. You can tell us anything.”
