Gloria fell silent, which irritated Jordy.
Karen looked at Gloria in disbelief. “Gloria?”
Gloria’s eyes flickered. She shook Karen’s hands. “When I was a kid, I learned taekwondo. And I
exercise a lot. No one can hurt me.”
Just after she finished, Jordy’s phone started ringing
Jordy got a call from Harold.
Jordy picked it up.
“Yes?”
“Mr. Collins, I was just at the police station to find out what was going on. Seventeen people have been
arrested. Twelve of them have broken bones, another two have become eunuchs for life, and the
remaining three have bruises and scratches.”
Jordy’s mouth twitched as he glanced up at Gloria.
Karen, who was sitting next to Jordy, heard Harold even though Jordy did not put him on
speakerphone.
In a state of confusion, Karen heard Harold say, “The police said Miss White was decisive and swift. At
first, they tried to run, and the two policemen
couldn’t decide whether to run after them. It was Miss White who acted quickly and boldly. She broke
their arms but then had their bones reset.”
Jordy and Karen were both too shocked to speak.
Karen looked at Gloria in disbelief.
Gloria was sitting next to Karen. The room was quiet. She could not hear all of it, but she got the gist of
what Harold just said. She met Karen’s gaze and rubbed the tip of her nose awkwardly.
Jordy lapsed into silence and heard Harold say, “The police are still grilling them about who’s behind
them. That’s going to be a little longer.”
“OK.”
Harold didn’t say another word, and Jordy hung up the phone and said nothing more.
Karen finally came to her senses and looked at Gloria. “Gloria, did you do it?”
Gloria coughed discreetly to hide her embarrassment.
”… Yes.”
The answer left Karen in a state of shock.
Jordy remained silent, and his taut face seemed to go slack.
After a pause, Karen said, “Gloria, you… know how to fight. I didn’t even know that.”
Jordy had a sarcastic glint in his eye. “Didn’t you know anything about Norma?”
Gloria shot an angry look at Jordy and frowned slightly.
Karen sighed, “Gloria, it’s been a very hard time for you. If Jordy took good care of you, you wouldn’t
have protected yourself secretly. It’s all your fault, Jordy!”
With that, Karen punched Jordy in the chest.
It didn’t hurt, but Jordy froze for a second.
