He Couldn’t Wait!
Everyone was back in their seats, and the judge and jury looked solemn.
Jennifer and Nydia were seated in the gallery.
Nydia found it a great opportunity to learn, especially from Gloria, her best friend, as well as an
awesome lawyer.
Jennifer had nothing to do today, so here she was.
When Nydia saw George, her face dropped.
“Darn it! Why is he here?”
Nydia was talking to Jennifer the whole time, and neither of them looked up. They both thought
Gloria was going to win today because no lawyer would dare take the case.
However, Nydia looked up and saw George!
Jennifer was surprised too. “George probably knew Gloria took the case.”
“Has he not had enough of it? He lost the last time, but now he’s here to do it again.”
“How strong he is! Only when he confronts a stronger opponent can he have a chance to win.”
“He’s nuts! Gloria said earlier that she would definitely win Kristina’s case because she found her case
could be convincingly argued. And George could see that, too. So how can he improve himself here as
a lawyer? He should compete with someone on his level,” said Nydia with contempt.
Jennifer chuckled, “Do you know how many cases Gloria has taken during this time?”
“If this case was that simple, how was it possible that it gave Kristina a headache? It’s just that Gloria
considers it a piece of cake.”
Nydia thought Jennifer got a point there.
Nydia pursed her lips and fell silent. Her reaction was a tacit acknowledgment that Jennifer was right.
“I will now hear testimony from the plaintiffs.”
The plaintiff was Kristina’s ex-husband.
Kristina kept her son with her, and her ex-husband tried to take him away from her long ago. He even
caused her a lot of trouble.
Ordinary lawyers might think George would win. Even Kristina didn’t think she could win the case.
Gloria had a keen mind and was able to find some strong arguments that no one could refute.
Thus, she was confident that she would win.
George spoke, “My client is seeking custody of the child for three reasons. First, Ms. Hayes is too busy
to look after the child, so she’s unable to ensure his happy childhood. Second, there is some news
about Ms. Hayes’ new relationship. If she finds a new husband, the child will inevitably suffer. My client
promises not to marry again. Third, the child had a phone call with my client and said he was not happy
with his mother and that he wanted to live with his father. I rest my case, your honor.”
Kristina frowned. She wanted to retort, but with Gloria by her side, she chose to keep her mouth
closed. She trusted Gloria.
The judge looked at Gloria. “I will now hear testimony from the defendant.”
All eyes were on Gloria.
There was nothing on the table as usual. Those who didn’t know her might consider her
unprofessional. But Gloria was different.
Everyone subconsciously cast her an admiring glance.
Gloria said calmly, “Let me refute the plaintiff’s statement first.”
George looked excited as if he had no real interest in litigation.
He just wanted to challenge Gloria.
When he heard that Gloria took Kristina’s case, he reached out to Kristina’s ex-husband without a
second thought.
Now he couldn’t wait!
