"Hello, may I ask who you are looking for?"
It was a woman.
Nicole frowned slightly.
The old she might have directly hung up, but now she had learnt to be calm.
"Where's Samuel? I'm his wife."
Nicole's voice was neither loud nor low.
Obviously, the woman froze for a moment. Then, Nicole heard someone shouting, "Samuel, a call from
your wife."
Not long after, Samuel ran over.
"Nicole."
Samuel was panting.
Nicole wanted to say that she missed him, but she suppressed it because of the woman who picked up
the phone.
"Who is she?"
Nicole felt like a jealous little woman, but she didn't want to hold back her emotion. She was indeed
jealous!
Samuel froze for a moment. He looked at the person beside him and whispered, "A technician here. My
clothes were wet just now. I left my phone outside. I didn't mean to not answer your phone."
"Is that so?"
Nicole intoned purposely, but she didn't say anything else.
Samuel sensed that Nicole was in a bad mood.
He walked out of the room with the phone and went to a quieter place outside, whispering, "Video
call?"
"Alright."
In the end, Nicole did not say anything else.
Samuel invited Nicole to a video call, and Nicole answered it directly.
Samuel was only wearing a short sleeve. Nicole could see his strong chest muscles beneath the
clothes. Her face was a bit ugly.
"Is the technician pretty? Also, what did you do? Wet clothes?"
Nicole frowned slightly. Seeing her questioning expression, Samuel immediately burst into laughter.
"Are you jealous?"
"Yes."
Nicole admitted it. She didn't want to pretend that she wasn't jealous.
Samuel smiled even more.
"I'm happy."
"Don't change the subject. You haven't answered my question yet."
Nicole pouted. She refused to let go of the question.
Samuel quickly changed the angle of his phone. Then, Nicole saw a tall woman guiding the technicians
to type with the computers.
Nicole was slightly surprised. She didn't expect Samuel to be so direct. Seeing that the woman wasn't
Samuel's type, Nicole heaved a sigh of relief.
"Why were your clothes wet?"
"It's raining, darling, and I didn't bring an umbrella with me."
Samuel replied very seriously.
Only then did Nicole nod her head.
"Alright, I forgive you for the fact that your phone was picked up by a woman, but I don't want to see it
happen again. Otherwise, I'll let you try the feeling when my phone is picked up by a man."
"No!"
Samuel immediately became nervous.
"I promise that next time, even if my phone gets wet, I won't let other women touch it."
"That's more like it."
Only then did Nicole let out a sigh of relief.
After checking what Samuel was doing, Nicole whispered, "I miss you. When are you coming back?"
"It will take about a day to settle the matter here. I haven't found Olivia's father yet. It's much more
complicated than I thought."
Samuel knew that Nicole and Olivia were best friends, so he was trying his best to help.
Seeing that Samuel was busy finding Olivia's father, Nicole hurriedly nodded and said, "Alright. Take
care. I'll wait for you to come back."
"OK. You can go home if you're too bored. Don't mind the media. Anyway, when people know about the
things Elvis has done, everything will be over. Besides, I'm always with you."
Samuel knew that Nicole could never stay still for long. It was truly hard for her to stay in the hospital all
day and pretend to be sick.
Nicole nodded her head and said, "Mom told me to go over to eat. Why don't I stay at Grandpa's for
two days?"
"That sounds good."
Samuel was naturally happy when he heard that Nicole was going to Edwin's place. After all, he could
guarantee her safety in the military compound. With relatives around Nicole, she could be less
harassed.
Nicole thought of Petty and whispered, "Petty is back. She's living in the Green's now."
Samuel was silent for a while. Then he said, "I don't intend to forgive her easily."
"It's up to you. Anyway, she's your sister. It doesn't matter to me even if you don't recognize her as your
sister for the rest of your life."
Samuel knew that Nicole was provoking him. He couldn't help but sigh, saying, "You are always so
tolerant of my family. Do you know how sorry I am seeing you like this? If it wasn't for her, you needn't
go through all this. You shouldn't have suffered so much."
"But I'm fine. On the contrary, we got Elvis because of her. It's better than having someone behind us
all the time, setting us up, right? Besides, she is pregnant now. She needs to keep a good mood. She
used to live like an orphan, and she couldn't even see the mother she longed for the most. She only
had you—her brother, and she couldn't recognize you. Actually, she has been living a very difficult life."
Hearing Nicole's words, Samuel whispered, "You knew?"
"Yes. Zac told me. After all, it's not easy for a girl."
Samuel pondered for a few minutes and said, "I'll think about it. If you want to forgive her, I have no
objection. After all, you are the one and only Mrs. Green. Whether to let her go or to let her in is up to
you. I'm fine with your decision."
"What are you talking about?"
Nicole glared at him coquettishly.
Samuel was feeling melted.
"Darling, three months is really a long time."
At first, Nicole did not understand what he meant. But after looking into his thirsty eyes, she smiled and
said, "What can we do? The baby is less than three months old. The doctor said that now is the most
dangerous time. Should we give it a try?"
"Forget it. The baby and you are the most important."
Samuel could do nothing but sigh.
It was not easy for him and Nicole to spend some time together. Now, Nicole was pregnant... With the
baby coming, they could no longer spend time with each other.
What a torture.
After chatting for a while, Nicole hung up the phone.
The ward was originally cold. Now Nicole felt much warmer.
Lucas and Mark pushed open the door and entered.
"Mommy, who are you smiling to? You're smiling so sweetly. Did you call Samuel?" Lucas asked.
He saw Nicole smiling like a fool when he entered.
Nicole slightly blushed.
"You bad boy, when did you learn to make fun of me?"
Mark smiled. Nicole could tell that the matter had been settled.
"Is it settled then?"
"Of course we did, because Lucas was there. He'll probably be very busy in the next few months."
Nicole paused for a moment.
Mark hurriedly explained, "They had made it clear that Lucas must be in this project, so I could only call
the higher-ups for instructions. To my surprise, they agreed. They also promised that as long as Lucas
wanted, he could be a part-time 158 member as a military representative. 158 also agreed."
Nicole immediately laughed.
"Good for you, Uncle Mark. This way, our country will be tied up with 158. Lucas can ask for any
information or help if needed. Poor Lucas. He has to take care of the military compound and work part-
time at the 158 organization. He's too young to bear the burden."
"Save it. Lucas is mainly a member of the military after all. He just needs to report to 158 occasionally.
Besides, this is also his chance. With the 158 organization as backup, no one can waver his position in
the military. His future is much brighter than mine."
Mark's eyes were filled with pride, as if Lucas was his son.
Lucas shrugged his shoulders indifferently and said, "As long as Mommy and Grandpa Mark are happy.
I won't exhaust myself. It's all simple work."
Lucas said arrogantly.
Nicole twitched her mouth.
The more Mark looked at Lucas, the more satisfied he was. How he wished that he could take him
home and raise him as his own son!
Nicole shook her head and sighed, "Uncle Mark, are you going to think about yourself as well? You're
already thirty-six. If you don't get married, you'll get old."
"Who said that? Men are the best in their forties. I'm not in a hurry."
Mark waved his hand, showing that he wasn't worrying about this at all.
"Uncle Mark."
Nicole was a little depressed.
"Alright, alright. I understand. Let's talk about it later. I'll bring Lucas back to the military to report. If you
have anything you need, go to Jason. He's got nothing to do."
Mark was the only one who could say that Boss Jason had nothing to do.
Nicole hugged Lucas and said gently, "Don't be too tired. Come back if you miss me."
"Alright."
Lucas also hugged Nicole. He asked, "Is Samuel coming back soon?"
"Yes. He'll be back in probably one day. I'm going to visit your grandmother after you leave."
"Grandmother Bush?" Lucas asked subconsciously.
After all, he thought Nicole was closer to Grandmother Bush because Nicole was raised by her
adoptive parents. Naturally, when hearing Nicole say that she wanted to visit his grandmother, Lucas
thought it was Grandmother Bush.
Nicole paused for a moment.
The news of her being attacked should be widely known by now. Nicole believed that Ms. Bush must
have known. However, Ms. Bush didn't call or text her. Naturally, Nicole felt sad about this. However,
Nicole still smiled before Lucas and said, "No. I'll go visit Grandma Shaw. She's sick."
"Can I go with Mommy to see Grandma Shaw before returning to the military?"
Lucas hurriedly turned around and asked Mark.
Mark knew about Audrey's condition. Under Lucas’ request, he thought for a moment and said, "Alright,
you can go. I'll pick you up after dinner tonight."
"Mommy, I'll go with you."
Lucas smiled happily.
Nicole nodded at Mark gratefully, then packed up her things and took Lucas out of the hospital.
There were still reporters waiting at the entrance of the hospital. Seeing Nicole come out, they were all
startled for a moment. Then, some of the reporters rushed forward boldly.
"Mrs. Green, I heard that you were very badly injured. It's only been two days. Why did you come out?
Where are you going?"
A reporter asked sharply as her eyes flickered. She cleverly blocked Nicole's path. It seemed that she
was confident.
Nicole frowned slightly and narrowed her eyes.
She pushed her long hair back and put on a fake smile to the reporter. She asked, "Which agency are
you from?"
