Audrey smiled happily as she spoke.
"I'm fine. I wasn't sick anyway. I was only poisoned."
What Audrey said just stunned Nicole since she once thought about the possibility that Audrey might
have cancer. Now Audrey's response seemed to deny her speculation. Nicole looked grim.
Morgan was the one who first diagnosed Audrey as a cancer patient. Now that Morgan was not here,
though she was still in F Country. Although she believed that Morgan would not betray Samuel again,
she was still not feeling good.
"Who had you poisoned?"
"Let's take our time. You've been interrogating me since you've been back! Is there anything you want
to have now?"
Audrey didn't want to talk about it.
Samuel looked at Nicole's pale face and couldn't help but feel concerned.
"Mom, get us fed, please. We had run out too much energy in the Dark Forest. There's also Lucas,
holding up all along the way. His has probably reached his limit."
Upon hearing that, Audrey looked at Lucas again, who was completely exhausted. He kept alert before
since he did not know who Audrey was. Now that he knew that it was his grandmother, Lucas needn't
hold back anymore.
"Grandma, I want to get some sleep."
Lucas spoke softly. His voice made Nicole feel concerned, not to mention Audrey.
"Alright then, I will take you to sleep. As for Nicole and Samuel, you too may get some rest as well.
This place is very safe. No one can come in here."
Samuel nodded.
Nicole looked at Xander who was not far away. He had never said anything, but Nicole could still feel
his tender love in his gaze.
She had a lot to ask, but now she didn't know where to start.
Samuel held her hand and whispered, "Take a rest first, and then we'll get to know everything."
"Alright."
Nicole was also very tired, so she could only listen to Samuel and went to the room that Audrey had
prepared for them.
After getting into the room, Nicole whispered, "Samuel, is it true that my mother is still alive? She..."
"It's true. Not only your mother but your father is still alive. I know you're excited and you have so many
questions, but now you have to rest. So be good and get some sleep. You may shoot all your questions
after you wake up."
"Then you should stay with me."
Nicole felt as if she were in a dream. Only when Samuel was with her did she feel at ease and felt that
everything was not a dream.
"Alright."
Samuel sat down.
Nicole treated his wound and they went to bed.
She felt exhausted physically, yet she was too excited to fall asleep.
Nicole was upset.
"But I can't fall asleep!"
Samuel couldn't help but laugh.
"How's the baby? Need a doctor for you?"
"No need. The baby is fine. I wonder if it was due to the meticulous recuperation from before, I feel that
the child is much stronger even after these sufferings. Perhaps this is the best gift from the heavens."
Nicole put her hand on her belly, with content on her face.
Although she came because of Laurence and Davon, she never thought that she would meet her
deceased parents here. This was simply too surprising for Nicole.
"Samuel, do you think it was our fate that had led us here?"
"Perhaps."
Samuel also felt strange. Seeing that Nicole was as excited as a child, his heart was filled with joy.
The Green and the Don family weren't big ones, and he had always been alone. Now Samuel felt quite
good about having more of the eldership.
Nicole said excitedly, "Also, about my dad, didn't those people take out all of my dad's organs for
research? How could he still be alive? Did they put his organs back up and sewed him up?"
Samuel chuckled, then stretched out his finger to tap her forehead, smiled, and said, "Did your
pregnancy just make a fool out of you? If one's organs are taken out, can this person still be alive? Did
you see too many science fiction movies?"
"But my dad is really in front of me right now. You won't tell me it's a robot, right?"
"Well, maybe it is."
Samuel wanted to make fun of Nicole.
Nicole immediately opened her eyes wide.
"A robot? Really? No wonder he only smiles at me and doesn't speak much."
Samuel was speechless when he realized that Nicole did buy his story.
"Which dog has eaten up your intelligence?"
"You."
Well, Samuel suddenly realized that she had got him caught. It was always risky to offend the wives.
"Alright, alright, alright. I have eaten it. Just ignore your questions and let's get some sleep first. OK?"
"OK."
Although Nicole was excited, she was unable to withstand the protest from her body. She closed her
eyes and fell asleep. Samuel was much more at ease and soon fell asleep.
They didn't wake up until the night, and when they opened their eyes, it was dark outside.
Nicole stretched her arms and found that Samuel was no longer by her side.
She turned on the bedside lamp and looked at the comfortable room. For a moment, she was still
unable to come back to earth. She sat on the bed for a while and got her thoughts back.
"Mom!"
Nicole suddenly recalled Audrey.
She was afraid that it would be a dream, so she quickly got out of bed, put on her slippers, and left the
room.
In the living room, Samuel was playing chess with Xander while Lucas was playing games with his
phone. Audrey was cooking in the kitchen. It was a warm scene.
Nicole didn't even dare to catch her breath, afraid that everything in front of her would turn into illusions
and bubbles and disappear.
She stood at the staircase and watched everything below. Her eyes couldn't help but feel a little wet.
She had hoped for a family reunion, but she never thought that it would come true.
The first to discover Nicole was Lucas.
He was tired of playing games and was just about to lift his head and move his neck when he found
Nicole standing there. Her eyes seemed to be filled with greed and excitement, which made Locus
somewhat worried.
"Mommy?"
Lucas broke the silence and then everyone paused.
"Nicole, there you are."
Samuel raised his head and smiled. Then, he wanted to stand up and support Nicole. Nicole saw
Xander looking back at her with a kind gaze. She was touched almost to tears and greeted him, "Dad."
She had thought that it would be awkward to call him dad, but it turned out that it came out very
naturally.
Xander was slightly stunned and was nearly moved to tears as well.
"Yes, yes."
His voice was magnetic, making Nicole feel that other than Samuel, it was the best sound in the world.
Samuel walked over and held her hand. "Are you hungry? I was going to cook, but Mom insisted that I
play chess with Dad. I've lost three rounds."
It sounded like crying out for help.
Nicole chuckled.
"Seriously? Aren't you a genius, Mr. Green? Is there anything in this world that you are not good at?"
"But that's Xander! How can I possibly win? How can I defeat my father-in-law the moment he just got
his daughter back? What if he doesn't like me?"
Samuel sounded even more aggrieved.
Nicole smiled.
"Is that the best you've got?"
"Otherwise?"
Nicole and Samuel whispered as they walked into the living room.
Lucas quickly yielded his seat, "Mommy, here."
Nicole glanced at him. Seeing that he was full of energy, she felt a little relieved. She looked at his
phone again and found that he was playing games.
"But don't play for too long. Won't be good for your eyes."
Nicole did not forbid Lucas from playing with his computer and mobile phone, as long as he didn't play
too much. After all, eyes needed to be treated carefully for a five-year-old kid.
"Got it, Mommy, I'm putting it down right now."
Then Lucas typed a sentence in the game, "My mommy asked me to have some rest. I've got go now."
Then he went offline directly, not caring about the impact of his sudden offline.
The teammates were all dumbfounded.
"Holy shit, this is it? If the assassin isn't here, how are we going to play?"
Some of his teammates finally reacted and couldn't help but ask.
Yasmeen also frowned, "Forget it, I'm not playing, either. So boring."
And she also went offline.
They left the others totally at a loss.
Lucas did not care what the people in the game thought about. He quickly got up and said, "Mommy,
shall I get you a glass of water?"
"Alright, thank you, Lucas."
Nicole smiled.
Lucas hurriedly ran away.
Nicole looked at Xander in front of her, feeling a little nervous for no reason.
"Dad, are you guys playing chess?"
"Yep. Can you then? Would you like to play?"
Xander didn't know how to get along with his daughter.
He didn't know that he had a daughter for the past twenty years. Not until he met Audrey again. He
even had a grandson! He was at a loss and didn't know how to be a father.
However, he could tell that Nicole was very happy to see him alive, which made him feel touched and
comforted.
Nicole wasn't very good at chess, but she still knew a little bit about it. However, she was a terrible
player.
She smiled awkwardly.
"I'm a terrible player."
"It's OK. I'll teach you."
Xander put away the chessboard between him and Samuel.
So Nicole would have to sit down.
Samuel chuckled when he saw this. So he moved to the kitchen to give Audrey a hand.
Lucas went back to his room after getting that glass of water for Nicole.
As soon as he returned to his room, Lucas' phone rang. He saw Yasmeen's application on Twitter. He
paused for a moment before agreeing.
Since she was a good player and had a tacit understanding to cooperate with him, he agreed.
Then he received a message from her.
"You are a good player. Are you interested in joining my squad?"
