"What's wrong? What are you worried about?"
Morgan glanced at Nicole and asked when she saw that Nicole was hesitant.
"Are you not going because of what Sally said?"
Nicole felt nervous.
"It has nothing to do with Sally. We should put William aside now. There is too much going on around
here. Jarrod is taking care of Amelia in the hospital. Our people are scattered. If we go find William
now, no one will keep an eye on the town."
Nicole decided to take no action until Samuel wake up.
Hearing what Nicole said, Morgan was silent and went back to her room. Nicole did not know what
Morgan was thinking and she had no time to care about it.
She didn't trust anyone except Samuel.
Although Nicole was torn with anxiety about Samuel, she didn't go back to her room because she was
afraid that someone would pay special attention to her.
Nicole kept on patrol and nothing special happened in the surroundings.
Finally, it was evening. They had dinner together. Jarrod and Amelia were in the hospital. Samuel could
not come out. And Sally stayed in her room looking into Aaron. Therefore, there were only a few people
having dinner together.
Morgan kept quiet and did not talk about finding William anymore. Joseph seemed to have something
on his mind and did not say anything all night.
They didn't enjoy the dinner.
After finishing her meal, Nicole was eager to go back to her room. She said that she was tired and
asked them not to bother her.
Morgan looked thoughtfully at Nicole's back.
"Joseph, is your Mommy hiding something from us?"
Morgan looked at Joseph and pretended to ask unintentionally.
Joseph shook his head and said with a puzzled expression, "What is Mommy hiding from us?"
"What were you thinking just now?"
"I was thinking about the Golden Bug in Uncle Jarrod's body. It may be different from the one in my
Daddy's body. Master, you gave my Daddy the Golden Bug back then, but why it seems so different
from the one in Uncle Jarrod's body?"
Morgan was nervous and looked away. She immediately bent her face over her plate.
"I don't know. Perhaps the Golden Bug that Alice gave Aaron is better. After all, Aaron is Alice's first
love."
"But your Golden Bug is left behind by the old master, isn't it? The best one should be the one you
gave my Daddy. When my Daddy was controlled by bugs, you gave him the Golden Bug to help him
detoxify. He was not in a coma. Why Uncle Jarrod was in a coma? Would the Golden Bugs have
different effects on people due to different physical states of them?"
Joseph looked at Morgan and asked frankly. Morgan didn't know how to answer him.
"It is indeed strange. I'll go back and check the ancient book later."
"OK."
Joseph did not say anything and continued to have his meal, but he was pondering.
When Nicole returned to her room, she looked around and made sure that there was no one else in the
room. And then she quickly entered the secret room. She did not notice a figure following behind her.
"Who is it?"
By the time Nicole noticed it, the figure behind her had entered the secret room.
"What's wrong with him?"
Jarrod anxiously walked to Samuel.
Seeing that it was Jarrod, Nicole felt somewhat relieved. For some reason, she trusted Jarrod, even
though she guarded against everyone including Morgan.
Perhaps it was because she thought that he was Samuel's only relative.
Nicole said sadly, "He was sent back today from the secret passage. He held a note in his hand."
Nicole showed the note to Jarrod.
Jarrod put on a serious face.
"You just let him lie here?"
Nicole hurriedly said, "No. Joseph checked him. He said that Samuel was fine. He is just sleeping. We
are waiting for him to wake up."
"He's not sleeping. He's in a coma because of the feedback damage from the bug."
Nicole panicked.
"Bug? There is nothing but a Golden Bug in his body."
Jarrod narrowed his eyes.
"Golden Bug? Where did you get the Golden Bug?"
"It was from Morgan."
Nicole told Jarrod about what happened to Samuel.
Jarrod immediately opened Samuel's eyes. There were golden lines in Samuel's eyelids. The lines
looked like nematodes, frightening.
When Nicole saw this, she gasped as she was shocked.
"He was once very irritable. He wanted to fight when he first took the Golden Bug. When he was
excited, his eyes were golden. Why were there golden nematodes in his eyelids?"
Jarrod was worried.
"This isn't a Golden Bug. Or it was a modified Golden Bug. The bug in his body is already laying eggs
by consuming his bones and blood. If we don't discover it and just let him sleep, the eggs will begin to
hatch and he will become the food of these bugs. They will eat him from the inside."
Nicole face went pale because of what Jarrod said.
"How could this be? Back then, he was controlled by bugs. Morgan said that this was a Golden Bug
that could devour all poisonous bugs."
"It is indeed a bit like the Golden Bug, but someone must have fed the Golden Bug with other
poisonous bugs, so it was mutated."
Jarrod had been dealing with bugs all these years, and he even tested the bugs with his own body, so
Nicole did not doubt him at all.
"What should we do now?"
Nicole suspected Morgan, but it was not helpful to catch Morgan.
It would not only waste time but also spread panic. In this situation, if people were in a panic, it could
have unintended consequences.
Now, Nicole could only pin her hope on Jarrod.
"Jarrod, you have a way, don't you?"
"I'll try. My blood should have some effect. Right now, I can only wake Samuel up. As long as he can
wake up, everything else will be fine."
Jarrod cut his finger with a dagger and squeezed out his blood.
Nicole found a cup and caught it.
After they fed Samuel with the blood, they could only wait.
Nicole tried her best to be calm.
She and Samuel had gone through so many difficulties, and she believed that Samuel would survive
this time.
She held Samuel's hand but said nothing. She believed that Samuel could feel her anxiety.
He would wake up.
Looking at Nicole, Jarrod couldn't help but think of Amelia in the hospital. Amelia was stubborn.
Amelia woke up before he left.
Jarrod was cautious and didn't want to expose himself and his love to others. After Nicole and Morgan
left, he sent someone to transfer Amelia to a safe place.
He looked at Nicole and whispered, "Is Morgan from the Harper Town?"
"Yes. So I'm confused. Why does she have to harm Samuel?"
Nicole frowned.
Jarrod whispered, "Some people may have good intentions at the beginning, but the life and
environment can change a person. I don't know what happened to Morgan, but she is very suspicious
on this matter. Ordinary people can't easily approach Samuel. The bug's fertility is very strong.
According to the time you said, Samuel shouldn't be in such a condition now. If it was really Morgan
who poisoned him with the bug, he would have died long ago."
Nicole was a little surprised.
"Does that mean it's not Morgan?"
"I don't exclude her, but she may be innocent. If Morgan is innocent, I don't know who else could have
quietly poisoned Samuel like this. It's really strange."
Jarrod frowned tightly.
He looked at Samuel and was worried.
"I've asked my people to start controlling Aaron's business. Even if we can't find out Aaron's identity, as
long as I control his business, someone will come looking for me. Therefore, I may not be able to be
with you in the next few days. I'll tell you if there's anything special. We'll keep in touch by phone."
Jarrod came here today to tell Nicole about this matter. He did not expect to encounter Samuel.
"I didn't plan to stay long here, but I can't leave now. We have to find out the mole here, or I will die if I
go out to replace Aaron now. I'm not afraid of death, but I don't want to die in confusion."
Jarrod was serious with cold eyes.
Nicole was surprised that there would actually be a mole beside her.
She whispered, "I will find the mole at all costs."
"It's almost time. Let me check Samuel's condition."
Jarrod stood up and walked to Samuel. He opened Samuel's eyelids and took a look. The golden lines
dimmed a little, but they were still there.
He took out an acupuncture kit from his waist. There were many silver needles in it.
Nicole watched without making a sound, but she was nervous.
Jarrod inserted the silver needles into the acupoints around Samuel's eyes, and then fed Samuel with
his own blood. As Samuel's face turned black and purple, something seemed to be moving on his
eyelids.
Jarrod pulled out the silver needles. The silver needles already turned black, and the golden lines
wriggling around the silver needles were moving like nematodes. Nicole got goose bumps.
"Are these bug eggs?"
"They are larvae."
Jarrod kept looking at Samuel's face. He said, "I may need more than an hour to clean up these bugs."
"Are there bugs in other parts of his body?"
Nicole couldn't help but feel worried.
Jarrod whispered, "I don't know. Normally, they should only be gathered on the eyes. I'll check the other
parts after I drive them out from his eyes. I can't be disturbed by anyone during this period of time, so
you have to make sure we're safe."
"OK, I see. I'll go out and guard you. I promise that no one would disturb you."
Just as Nicole was about to leave, she heard a knock on the door outside.
"Are you there, Mrs. Green? I want to talk to you."
It was Morgan's voice.
Nicole wanted to hurry out so as not to reveal any carelessness. However, before she could open the
door of the secret room, she heard the door to her room being opened from outside.
