Samuel wasn’t at lost like Nicole. Instead, he looked kind of serious.
He had already known something.
There was something weird going on on the sea and Morty wanted to send some people there to see
what happened. But then everything suddenly got back to normal.
He didn’t overthink about this. But now it turned out to be an elaborate scheme.
Someone disrupted the regular ship routes and had everyone’s attention fixed on the ship routes of the
Mason family. Samuel still remembered Mr. Ethan went to meet Emory in person and offered to make
the ship routes of the Mason family one of the state cooperation routes, which would turn in 40% of the
income to the country. And that in a way protected the ship routes of the Mason family.
If it weren’t for Mr. Ethan who went to the government first and was generous enough about the money,
the other prestigious families would force the Mason family to surrender. It would be impossible for the
Masons to protect the ship routes that their ancestors fought for with blood and tears.
Now, it turned out that Nick was targeting not at the Mason family but at the ship routes. But he could
never anticipate that Mr. Ethan would make such a quick and wise decision which helped him get out of
the trouble. And Dylan mustn’t be their only option.
“Did you have any other orders? Or, to put it in another way, did you inform other families besides the
Bell family?”
“Yes, but I didn’t need to do that by myself. That rich guy did that for me. Those guys all came from
wealthy families and they partied all the time. If he told Dylan, then other people would hear about this
and tell their fathers.”
Aiden clearly didn’t hold anything back.
Now it was crystal clear that Nick set this whole thing up. He made Aiden spread the word and had his
men messing around on the sea which disrupted the regular ship routes. And then everyone would
keep an eye on the Mason family.
And if the Mason family couldn’t take the heat, the other families would attack them at once. Then, the
Mason family would have to hand over their ship routes and be replaced. And Nick might be the
biggest winner.
Whereas, Mr. Ethan was decisive and quick-thinking enough to do something unpredictable. His
actions caught Nick off guard and protected the Mason family. Now if they thought about it, Mr. Ethan
might be the reason why the cargo of the Bell family went missing.
Being capable of making the cargo of the Masons disappear and keeping his hands clean, Mr. Ethan
must be shot at that time.
Thinking of that, Samuel sighed and asked, “Where is Mr. Ethan right now?”
“I don’t know. Actually, nobody knows. If the Mason family are on the sea, then they are the only
authority there. As long as they are off land, no one can lay a finger on them. Mr. Ethan cut himself off
from the rest of the world. We bribed the servants of the Mason family and planted bugs in their bodies.
But we still couldn’t get what we want. He must be on the sea.”
His words indirectly explained that they had something to do with the deaths of the servants in the
Mason family.
“So, you planted those bugs.”
“Nick did that.”
Hearing Nick’s name for so many times, Nicole couldn’t help asking, “Who is this Nick guy? How can
you get in touch with him?”
“We can’t contact him. He contacted us.”
Aiden was kind of depressed.
He really wanted to tell them some useful information so they could let him go. But he really didn’t have
the access to the essential intelligence.
He could tell that only Samuel and Nicole had the power to protect him.
Samuel and Nicole stopped talking and the tension and silence in the air were horrifying for Aiden.
Aiden was extremely afraid of death. He had been through a lot, which might be the reason why he
yearned for a chance to survive. But right now, the silence intimidated him. He tried his best to think of
something useful.
He said abruptly, “Maybe there’s a way to find Nick.”
“Hmmm?”
Samuel’s voice was cold and emotionless.
“I’ve got Tim locked up and I heard Nick is coming to get him this afternoon. If you want to catch him,
you might want to make some arrangements now,” Aiden said hastily.
Samuel squinted his eyes and then stared at him.
“We know what you’re up to, Aiden. You want Nick and us to fight so you can run away, right?”
If Aiden said that from the beginning, Samuel might think he was sincere. But now he was just trying to
use them to halt Nick so that he could buy himself some time to run.
Samuel sneered, “There’s one thing I haven’t told you.”
“What?”
All of a sudden, Aiden had a bad feeling.
Samuel didn’t care about how he felt at all. He just said emotionlessly, “Although we took the bug out of
your body, no one knows how many eggs are left in your body. When one of them grows into a bug, the
other eggs will stop growing temporarily. Now we have plugged one bug and the rest might be awaking
right now. So, we don’t know how long you can live.”
Hearing that, Aiden’s face was pale like he was transparent.
“What? That…”
“So, you’ve got nothing to bargain with us. If you help us catch Nick, we might do you a favor and
eliminate the rest of the bugs in your body. Otherwise, you’re a dead man.”
After that, Samuel and Nicole stood up while Aiden was crying desperately, “Mr. Green, Mr. Green,
please save me! I’m begging you! I’ll do anything you want me to do! Please help me!”
Samuel didn’t stop for him this time. He went out of the basement with Nicole.
Aiden’s yelling was blocked behind. The moment Nicole went outside, she saw Dylan’s sour face. She
knew Dylan must have heard everything.
“Still think Molly framed your family?”
Samuel’s words made Dylan feel even worse. Molly had been devoted to their family with no
complaints, yet he treated Molly and Michele like garbage.
Dylan hesitated for a minute and asked, “Can I see Molly?”
“What do you think?”
Samuel smiled sarcastically.
Not everyone could get the chance to make up for their mistakes and not every apology could be
answered with forgiveness. If Dylan dared to go to see Molly, he would definitely be killed especially
when Morty get to be back with Molly and their child.
