"Who are we going to see?"
Nicole didn't hear it clearly.
Seeing her red eyes, Samuel felt heartbroken and hugged her even more tightly.
"We're going to see your second uncle. Sally said that Morgan would take her to see William."
Leaning on Samuel's chest, she listened to his powerful heartbeat in a state of shock.
"Sally is also here?"
"I don't know how they made up, but I know it was Sally who had ordered Morgan to defend the Harper
Town. I used to think that the Harper Town was very important to Morgan, but now I don't think so."
A trace of doubt flashed across Samuel’s eyes.
Nicole pulled herself out of his embrace. She looked at him and asked, "What's wrong? Are you
suspicious of Morgan? She knew where Elvis was but didn't tell us."
"Don't you think so?"
Samuel frowned because he thought Nicole was too calm.
Nicole shook her head, got up, and walked to the window.
The people outside were busy covering what Emory had done, because they didn't want outsiders to
know. Although Zoe and Juliana had left, the atmosphere here was still tense. It didn't change much
after Aaron was captured,
Nicole felt an increasing tension in the air. She didn't know whether it was brought by the well-trained
bodyguards of the Green family or it was her illusion.
Samuel walked over and hugged her from behind.
He enjoyed doing this. When Nicole's soft body leaned against him, he felt like he had the whole world.
Wealth and power could never bring this kind of satisfaction.
"I think you have a different opinion on Morgan,"
Samuel said gently with a fatigue and hoarse voice.
Nicole's heart aches for him. She caressed the back of his hand and whispered, "No matter who she is,
she is a woman, who lost her son, and it might be the most regrettable thing in her life. If she was an
ordinary woman, she might have gone crazy, but she didn't even have the right to do that since she's a
woman on mission. She's responsible for the survival of the Harper Town. I think her son was the
eternal pain in her heart. However, she accepted Joseph and even treated Joseph as her own son. I
believe her love for Joseph is true. "
"I have never doubted her love for Joseph, but does this have anything to do with her current
behavior?"
As a man, Samuel didn't understand women's thoughts.
"Of course," said Nicole with a smile. If Morgan really cares about Joseph, she will put the safety of
Joseph ahead of the Harper Town. And her burden has reduced since you are in the Harper Town now.
In such a situation, she will protect Joseph as a mother does. I think there must be someone watching
Joseph."
Samuel was surprised at Nicole's words.
"How do you know it?"
"If Joseph isn't spied on and his safety isn't threatened, then Morgan has no reason to hide the
whereabouts of my second uncle from us. I think she used the whereabouts of my uncle as a
bargaining chip to get Sally's cooperation when she was cornered by you. Have you noticed that
members of this organization only follow Sally's order and they ignore Morgan? Morgan has been with
Sally for more than ten years, and Sally has entrusted many things to her. Even if there are fractions
within this organization, how could Morgan not be able to have her own henchmen for all these years? I
think these members are the secret force of Sally. The only explanation for Sally to use her secret force
for Morgan is that Morgan knew where my second uncle is, and she used this message as the
bargaining chip. Sally helped her, not for their friendship, but for the message.
Samuel was shocked at her orderly analysis.
He had always known that Nicole was thoughtful, but he never expected that she could be able to
remain observant in such a situation.
'She had come a long way.'
When he realized this, Samuel felt happy, but sad.
He had wanted Nicole to tougher, but not too much or he would feel he didn't do a good job protecting
her. And now, Nicole had grown in the way that Samuel had never imagined.
Every time in face of dangers and difficulties, she acted with low profile, but she had learned to become
more calm and farsighted.
Samuel had anticipated it but he never expected it to be such a great change.
Samuel hugged Nicole tightly, his chin on her shoulder, his warm breath sprinkling on her cheeks.
Nicole felt a little bit shy.
"Get up."
"No!"
Samuel acted like a child.
Nicole didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
"Your prestige will go away if someone sees you acting like this."
"I'm spending time with my wife. No one dares to come in and bother us."
Before he could finish his words, someone knocked on the door outside.
Nicole chuckled.
"Mr. Green, it turns out that you were wrong!"
Looked at Nicole's beautiful smile, Samuel also put on a faint smile.
"I'll talk to you later."
He let go of Nicole and his face fell.
"Who is that?"
"Daddy, it's me."
Hearing Joseph's tender, Nicole burst into laughter.
If it was anyone else, Samuel might even vent his anger, but it was Joseph, so he could only swallow
his anger.
Samuel looked at Nicole, resignedly shook his head, and got up to open the door.
"Why are you here? Is there something wrong with Jarrod?"
Joseph looked around and walked over to Nicole.
"Mommy, how do you feel?"
"Good. What's wrong?"
Nicole touched Joseph's head, lifted him, and put him on her lap.
Joseph didn't want to trouble her. He wanted to come down, but meanwhile, he yearned for this
maternal love.
Samuel was a little depressed.
'What was going on? Why so many people looked for Nicole when I was with her. ‘Although he felt
uncomfortable, he had nothing to do with a child. He could only walk over and bring a cup of warm
water to Joseph.
"Drink some warm water. The temperature in the mountain is lower than outside. Don't catch a cold."
"Thank you, Daddy."
Joseph took the cup with a smile and took a sip. Then he said, "Mommy, Daddy, I think there are spies
here."
...
Samuel frowned slightly.
His heart missed a beat, when he thought of Nicole's guess.
Joseph whispered, "Just now, in the porridge that I sent to my Uncle Jarrod, I discovered there were
tranquilizer pills in it."
"Tranquilizers?"
Samuel and Nicole were shocked.
They had always thought the spies were very likely to Aaron's henchmen. Since Aaron was captured,
they only needed to wait and catch them when they came to save Aaron. Samuel also thought the
same way, so he didn't rush to take action. They didn't expect that their goal was Jarrod.
'Why did they want to take Jarrod away?'
'If Jarrod was their enemy, why didn't they wait for him to awake and leave? They could even do
something to him. But it was confusing that they put tranquilizers in his food and tried taking him away.
'This meant they were not from Jarrod's side. Who could they be?'
'Could it be someone from Aaron's side?’
'If so, why didn't they save Aaron?'
A series of questions appeared in their minds.
The two of them looked at each other without saying a word.
This reaction surprised Joseph.
"Daddy, Mommy, what I said is true."
"We believe in you. What did you do with the porridge?"
Samuel looked at Joseph and touched his head.
Joseph whispered, "I took them out and put other medicines that will help him wake up."
Samuel was satisfied with this solution.
He looked at him, and asked in a low voice, "Do you feel that someone is watching you these days? Or
anything happened to you?"
"No. what's wrong?"
Joseph hurriedly shook his head.
Nicole and Samuel wore grim expressions on their faces.
'Joseph didn't feel that he was spied on, which meant the spy might be someone close to him. Who
else was close to him besides them?'
'Zoe?'
Nicole and Samuel knew clearly that Zoe treated Joseph with all her heart. Therefore, Zoe couldn't be
the spy. 'Who else would be able to stay by Joseph's side without people's noticing?'
The two of them thought for a moment, and then exchanged glances with each other. Shortly, Samuel
looked somewhat anxious.
"I'll make a phone call."
Samuel quickly stood up and directly opened the door and walked out.
Joseph was slightly surprised. He thought he said had said something wrong, so he hurriedly asked,
"Mommy, did I say something wrong?"
"No, you did a good job. Joseph, I'm sorry I have to leave you alone for a while. I need to go and look
for Morgan."
As she spoke, she quickly put Joseph down and walked out of the door.
Hearing Nicole's words, Joseph also left the room and followed behind. He hadn't seen his master for a
long time; he wanted to ask her for advice for many questions.
Joseph did not call Nicole but quickly followed up.
Nicole hurriedly came to Morgan's room, and she found Sally standing at the door. Sally was also here
for Morgan, but she hadn't knocked on the door yet. Sally noticed Nicole walking towards her.
"Nicole?"
"Sally, I'll talk to you later."
After saying that, Nicole pushed open Morgan's door without knocking on the
door.
