Phoenix never expected that there would be Davon's people in her palace.
She knew this guard. His father was an official and made a mistake two years ago. She saved him from
Leo's punishment, so the official was grateful to her and he sent his son to be her guard.
The guard had done a good job on her orders and requests these two years, but what was going on?
He was actually Davon's man!
Phoenix's eyes suddenly became sharp.
"Get in here and explain to me!"
After saying that, Phoenix turned around and returned to her room.
How ridiculous!
The guard was not afraid or worried. He followed Phoenix back to the palace and hurriedly knelt down
in front of her.
"Princess, please forgive me."
"What happened? When did you become Davon's man? Tell me the truth!"
Phoenix was so angry.
The guard did not feel any fear. Instead, he looked at Phoenix and whispered, "I have always been Mr.
Davon's man."
"Always? Didn't you offend Leo that time?"
"I did, but it's also Mr. Davon's plan."
The guard whispered, "At that time, you wanted to develop your own power and attracted Leo's
attention. To protect you, Mr. Davon asked me to make a mistake on purpose and get caught by the
king. My family was a rivalry of the one you wanted to draw in, so Leo hoped that my family could stand
by your side. In this way, you couldn't draw that power over to your side. That's why Mr. Davon asked
me to take that chance and follow you. I'm supposed to report your movements in time, and protect
you."
Phoenix felt somewhat uncomfortable in her heart.
Two years ago?
Davon began to keep an eye on her two years ago?
Although it wasn't surveillance, it didn't feel good.
But Phoenix did not care too much about it. She was thinking about the words of the guard. Leo was
afraid of her two years ago, but she was complacent that she was really powerful and Leo didn't notice
what she did. It turned out that it was just a fantasy.
She would have died earlier if Davon didn't protect her in secret.
She had a mixed feeling as she thought of the injuries the guard had suffered for her over the past two
years.
She felt that she owed Davon a lot as she knew more about the truth. But she didn't want to owe
others, so what should she do?
How could Davon be so hateful?
She owed him a lot before she could notice it. What should she do?
Phoenix had a sullen face.
"I want to go out. You are Davon's man, so you should know that he is in danger now. I must go over
and help him. Do you want him to die?"
But the guard insisted. "Princess, Mr. Davon said before he left that you can't leave the palace.
Otherwise, my family and I can't survive. Please spare my family for my dedication over the past two
years."
His words shocked Phoenix.
She never thought that Davon would threaten her with the guard's family.
What an annoying man!
"But if he dies, aren't you afraid..."
"Mr. Davon will be fine. Actually, he won't do it himself. Mr. Davon said that the best way is to kill
someone with a borrowed knife."
The guard's words surprised Phoenix.
A borrowed knife?
What did he mean?
But Phoenix could tell that Davon would not do it himself.
She was finally relieved.
"You know his plan?"
"No. Mr. Davon told me this before he left. He said that I can answer in this way if you ask. Then you
will rest assured."
"I'm not worried!"
Phoenix was suddenly annoyed, just like a cat being stamped on its tail.
The guard lowered his head and didn't say anything, but Phoenix was upset.
No wonder Davon could come and go freely in her palace. It turned out here were his people.
"How many Davon's people are here?"
"I don't know. I only know that I must protect you. There may be another messenger, but I don't know
about the others."
Hearing what the guard said, Phoenix wanted to fight with Davon.
She had been proud that no one could disturb her in the palace for all these years. She used to think
that she was good at everything, but she finally knew that Davon was protecting her from behind. This
feeling was truly terrible.
"Get out!"
"Yes."
The guard left quickly.
After Helen heard all of this, she had a new understanding of Davon.
'Mr. Davon seems to be deeply in love with Princess.'
'Did they meet two years ago?'
'But Princess never mentioned him.'
'Doesn't Princess like Samuel all these years?'
Helen suddenly remembered that Phoenix didn't mention Samuel's name for a long time after he left.
Then she mentioned Davon frequently, either cursing or worrying.
Perhaps Davon already had a place in Phoenix's heart, but she did not know it.
Helen pursed her lips and lowered her head.
Phoenix's heart skipped a beat when she saw her movement.
"Helen, you're not one of his people, are you?"
"I'm not. I'm loyal to you."
Helen hurriedly explained.
Phoenix heaved a sigh of relief.
She realized she couldn't go out this night. And Davon said that he would borrow other's strength, so
he should be fine, right?
As Phoenix thought this, she tried her best to suppress her worries and waited.
Time passed by quickly and it was already night.
These few nights were extraordinary. Those snakes in the grass would take action at night.
Phoenix had the door shut tightly, and she went to bed early.
She couldn't sleep, but she had to show others that she was asleep.
Around midnight, someone sneaked into Phoenix's bedroom and went to bed.
The familiar fragrance finally relaxed Phoenix.
"Why are you still awake? Are you waiting for me?"
"You wish! Get out. You bring in the cold air."
Phoenix frowned and wanted to kick him out of bed, but she was grabbed by the ankle.
Davon said with a mischievous smile, "I'm cold, so I came up to hug you."
"You rogue."
Phoenix could not break free, so she could only let him go.
Davon didn't do anything else, but just hugged Phoenix in his arms and held her tight, as if he wanted
her to be part of him.
What a stubborn woman! It must be hard to be in love with her, but he got used to it these years.
"Take it easy."
Davon said to himself and then whispered in Phoenix's ear, "Major is dead. This time, he is really
dead."
"What?"
Phoenix was dumbfounded. She wanted to get up but was stopped by Davon.
"Don't move. Stay in my arms for a while. I'm so tired."
"How did he die? Are you sure? Davon, how did you make it?"
Davon laughed after hearing Phoenix's questions.
"Didn't I ask someone to tell you? I just killed him with a borrowed knife."
"Borrowed knife? I've been wondering who is so powerful and able to get close to Major. And he can
even avoid Jayden's people. Davon, hurry up and tell me."
Phoenix said in a soft voice, but she did not notice it.
Davon said with a smile, "It is true that others cannot get close to Major, but what if it is his person?"
"What do you mean?"
Seeing that Phoenix was full of curiosity, Davon knew that he couldn't stay her in his arms, so he let go
of her and sat up.
"Give me a cup of hot water. I'm thirsty."
Davon ordered.
Phoenix was surprised, then she gritted her teeth and glared at him. But she still got out of bed and
fetched him a cup of hot water.
Davon felt a trace of warmth in his heart as he looked at Phoenix.
He drank the hot water and it warmed him up.
Davon put the cup aside, and then pulled Phoenix into his arms. She drove away the coldness from
Davon.
He placed his chin on Phoenix's shoulder and whispered, "Major has a lover. It's a girl selling wine in a
bar. The girl lived a peaceful life, but Major took a fancy to her. Then he snatched her back home and
assaulted her. The girl had her loved one. She wanted to die after that, but Major threatened her with
her family. She had no choice but to stay with Major. Then she became Major's lover."
"He's really a brute."
Phoenix couldn't tolerate a man doing such a thing. He did whatever he wanted to a girl with his
strength and power. He was simply a jerk!
Davon agreed with her.
"He's indeed a jerk. What's worse, the girl was pregnant. She wanted to abort the child, but Major
cared much about it because it is his first child. He sent people to watch over the girl all day and asked
a nutritionist to take care of her. He hoped that she could give birth to this child."
Phoenix was instantly a little annoyed.
"Major is the same as his father. He is a jerk. A woman should give birth at her own will. Does he think
that he is still in ancient times? So what if his father is Prince Jayden? He can't live under the light.
Does he want his child to be like him?"
Davon saw Phoenix was enraged. She was still kind and fair-minded even though she lived in the
palace. He was happy to see that.
He stroked Phoenix's hair and whispered, "He will pay the price. Last time Nicole killed Major's
substitute, and he had lost his shield. Therefore, for his own safety, he found Jayden and cooperated
with Jayden to get the throne of Country F. Major was cautious and changed everyone beside him. But
he only left this girl to take care of him."
"So you bought over the girl to kill Major?"
Phoenix looked at Davon. She didn't know why she felt somewhat
uncomfortable.
