"Mrs. Green!"

Laurence still wanted to stop her, but Nicole was so determined that she already squatted down and

started treating the injured.

"I've learned to dress wounds. Your wound needs hemostasis. Let me help you."

Nicole spoke fluent English.

Seeing Nicole's actions, the nun thanked her.

"Thank you, but please leave this place now. Those people will be back soon."

The nun's words stunned Nicole.

"What do you mean by back? Is this the camp of those rioters?"

"It's not their camp. It's just that the people here were all captured by them and they asked us treat the

injured here."

The nun said as she bandaged the wounded.

Nicole was confused.

"Wait. Since these people were captives, why is there no one to watch them?"

"Because the whole town is under their control, even if these captives run out, they will be shot dead in

a hail of bullets. So no guard is needed here. I think you are from outside, right? Hurry up and go home

before they come back. This place has fallen."

Hearing that, Nicole and Laurence wore a serious look.

No wonder the signal was cut off. It turned out that this place fell completely.

What exactly happened here?

Nicole wasn't sure, but she knew that Samuel and Lucas weren't here.

But whether Joseph was here remained a question.

Nicole didn't know the answer.

"Sister, how many more camps like this are here? Have you ever seen a boy around four or five years

old carrying a medicine chest?"

Nicole hurriedly asked.

The nun shook her head and said, "This place is full of such camps. Many people have died and

medical staff and supplies are sought-after. As for the children, many didn't make it."

Nicole's heart sank.

Joseph and Morgan were the first to arrive here. Nicole didn't know where they were trapped now. If

what the nun said was true, then how were they now?

Nicole was worried sick.

Laurence tugged at her and said, "Let's leave now. The gunshots outside are getting closer and closer."

Nicole put away the medical kit at once and scurried out with Laurence.

The barrage of gunfire outside brushed past their hair.

As soon as they got out, they were forced back.

They saw a jeep pulling a cart of rioters shooting randomly.

Human lives were nothing in their eyes.

"Mrs. Green, go to the back."

Laurence pulled her and rushed back.

Behind the church was a large open space, leaving them no place to hide.

They got depressed. Just as they were about to turn around, they felt guns pressing against their

waists.

"What are you doing?"

The gunman asked in fluent English, and his voice was very pleasant to hear.

Nicole was surprised by her inappropriate ease. In such a situation, she even paid attention to the

gunman's voice.

"We're doctors. We're here to find someone."

Nicole said without hesitation.

"Are you doctors? Why are you carrying guns?"

The gunman took Nicole's gun swiftly.

Laurence wanted to move but stopped as she winked at him.

Right now, their resistance was akin to throwing straws against the wind.

Laurence felt aggrieved, but he could only remain motionless.

Seeing him that way, Nicole whispered, "It's for self-defense in emergencies."

"Do you know how to use it?"

She couldn't tell the gunman's emotions from the voice.

"Barely. I've learned to use it at Shooting Club for a few days."

Nicole replied calmly.

"Turn around."

As the gunman was pointing the gun at her, Nicole had no choice but to turn around.

A charming man came into sight.

He was dressed in camouflage. Although his face was painted with color, blurring his features, he

oozed charm from every pore.

This man was extremely dangerous!

Nicole scrutinized him and decided to outsmart him.

"Oh, a beauty."

He whistled. Upon hearing it, Laurence put on a cold look.

"What now? Do you want to do something to me?"

He pointed his gun at Laurence.

"Don't touch him!"

Nicole stood in front of Laurence.

"Oh, you're protecting him. Is he your love?"

"It's none of your business."

Her unyieldingness surprised the gunman, and then the gunman smiled evilly.

"It's interesting. Instead of fearing me, you're so bold to talk to me like this. I don't believe you're just a

doctor. Move. Come with me."

Under his threat, Nicole and Laurence were led out of the church.

The shooting outside continued.

The gunman owned a military vehicle.

He let them hop in, stepped on the gas and drove away.

Everyone else stepped aside when they saw the gunman.

It was obvious that he had some influence here and might be a senior.

Trying to figuring him out, Nicole said to Laurence in Chinese, "Don't act rashly later. It looks like this

man is a higher-up. Safety comes first."

"But if they lay a finger on you, I won't let them off even if I risk my life."

Laurence said it ferociously.

The man suddenly smiled, "What if I want her? What can you do?"

He asked in Chinese fluently.

Nicole and Laurence were speechless for a moment.

"Do you speak Chinese?"

"I didn't say I can't, did I?"

The gunman gloated.

Nicole frowned slightly. She found it repulsive to hear rioters speak Chinese in such a place. This made

her feel very humiliated.

"Are you from Country Z?"

"You're asking too much, woman."

The gunman's eyes darkened.

The car quieted down and the silence was depressing.

The man drove the car to a nearby government agency.

Nicole and Laurence were brought out of the car.

There were armed insurgents guarding this place, and when they saw the gunman, they all stood up

and saluted.

"Boss!"

Nicole's and Laurence's expressions instantly changed.

Why did they call the gunman Boss?

Was he their leader?

Sensing Nicole's surprise, the gunman smiled, "I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Sam Boone. Welcome

to my base camp. Please."

Nicole didn't know him. Now that he told her his name, she just remembered it.

Laurence held her hand tightly.

Nicole could feel his nervousness and worry and smiled, "Take things as they come. If Sam wants to do

something to us, we can't escape it, can we?"

"How courageous! I like you."

Sam was smiling evilly, and the people behind him forced Nicole and Laurence in with guns.

Sam went to the office hall.

Only then did Nicole find that there were a lot of people captured here, about twenty to thirty. They

were from all over the world.

She didn't know who these people were, but judging from how Sam treated them, she could tell they

were valuable to him.

None of them were injured.

Normally, Sam and these thugs would not be merciful to others. These people stayed unharmed, most

likely because of their usefulness.

"Go over there. Don't play tricks. I might leave you alive."

Sam said indifferently.

Nicole and Laurence were forced to squat down with other captives.

Laurence looked around and nudged Nicole.

She looked over immediately.

It was Joseph!

Nicole almost screamed.

Joseph also saw her.

He cast her a surprised glance, and then quickly lowered his head, as if he didn't know her.

She was filled with excitement.

She never expected Joseph to the first family she met in South Africa.

Laurence was happy too.

Now, he needed to find a way to take Joseph out of here.

Looking at them, Sam flashed a smile.

"You, come out."

He pointed at Joseph.

Joseph frowned slightly, looking like Samuel in some way.

"Little boy, come out!"

When Sam's subordinates saw Joseph hesitate, they kicked him.

Of medium height, Joseph fell and rolled over because of the kick.

Only then did Nicole discover that Joseph's leg was injured and bleeding.

This unsettled her.

"Stop!"

She ignored Laurence's tug and stood up.

"How can you be so cruel? You actually hit a child. He's injured. Are you blind?"

"Who is he to you?"

Sam stared at Nicole with something unfathomable in his eyes.

Nicole trotted over and took Joseph into her arms.

"Where did you go? Does it hurt? Why didn't you dress your wound?"

Tears welled up in her eyes.

Joseph had endured too much at a young age. Now, he was injured. Nicole, as his mother, came to

him belatedly.

"Sorry baby, Mommy is late."

Nicole hugged Joseph tightly.

"Mommy, I'm fine."

His voice is a little hoarse, probably because he was thirsty for a long time. This broke her heart.

Sam was surprised.

"Are you his mother? So you're Samuel's woman, right?"

Nicole paused for a moment before she looked up.

She detected a flash of hatred in Sam's eyes.

She wondered if he had a grudge against Samuel.

So Joseph was detained here because of Samuel.

"Do you hate my husband?"

He had a good laugh. "Do I hate him? Yes, to the bone!"

Sam's entire face contorted with rage.

"Someone, tie this woman up and hoist her up on the flagpole outside. At the same time, call Samuel

and tell him to come alone. Otherwise, I'll cut his woman alive."

As soon as Sam made the threat, Joseph stretched out his small arms to protect Nicole.

"Nobody touches my mommy!"

"You little boy, get lost!"

When Sam's subordinates saw Joseph like this, they picked up their submachine guns angrily and

waved the gun barrels at Joseph.

"Joseph!"

Nicole turned around and covered him in her arms, using her back to take the heavy blow from the gun

barrels.

The bone-crushing pain made her groan, and the wound on her back opened again.

A trace of anger flashed through Joseph's eyes.

He clenched his small hands, and the moment he dragged Nicole down, a layer of white powder was

thrown out of his sleeve.

"Mommy, run!"

When he gave her a fierce push, the white powder was thrown out again.
