Chapter 1216 I Don't Want You to Suffer

Before Samuel could came up with a solution, Nicole suddenly raised her head, which made Samuel

put his phone behind his back in a hurry.

"Look how happy you are."

Samuel said with a smile.

Nicole said happily, "Yeah. Such a beautiful place made them all envious. They were all asking me

where this place is."

"Did you tell them?"

"Absolutely no! Although I also want to contribute to the tourism here, I'm not stupid. If I told them, our

location would be disclosed to them then. I will not be tricked."

Nicole was like a proud little girl. Samuel was obsessed with this proud little girl. Samuel was,

nevertheless, feeling worried because of Tim.

"Nicole."

"What?"

Nicole looked up at Samuel again.

Seeing her slight excitement and joy, Samuel refrained from expressing his worry.

"Nothing. If you like the scenery, just take a good look. You'll have to go to bed soon."

"I see."

Nicole nodded and then went to chat with several people.

Samuel took out his phone again and checked the medical report in his hand, narrowing his eyes.

Lead poisoning?

How come Tim got lead poisoning?

He had a medical examination when he and Evelyn got married.

Why wasn't he diagnosed as being poisoned by lead then?

Samuel felt a headache.

He sent the medical report to Tim and said, "Take a look at your own medical report. You have lead in

your body. Didn't your premarital check-up report inform you of that?

Tim was obviously a little surprised by the medical report and replied, "When I registered marriage, I

happened to be in hospital due to a car accident. How could I have a medical examination?"

"Then why did a doctor fail to find that there was too much lead in your body?"

This made Samuel confused.

Tim became silent.

That was right.

He must have been thoroughly examined by doctors when he was sent to the hospital after the car

accident. Why didn't they find that he got lead poisoning?

And now this medical report was made by Samuel's man, so it was authentic.

So, someone at the hospital purposefully altered his medical report?

"Tim, there's another possibility."

Samuel's words stunned Tim.

"What?"

"Someone poisoned you while you were in the hospital. That's why the doctors couldn't find that then."

Tim seemed to disagree with Samuel.

"Impossible! Evelyn was taking care of me for the whole time. Are you suggesting that it was Evelyn

who poisoned me? What benefits could she get for doing so? We hadn't even used contraception. If it

was she who poisoned me, wouldn't she be worried that the lead may affect children that we are going

to have?"

No sooner had he finished speaking than Tim heard Samuel say, "You seem to have neglected

someone?"

"Who is it?"

"A woman who wants to marry you, a university student, Fernanda."

Samuel's words made Tim remember a woman's face.

He frowned slightly.

"Impossible."

"I don't know. You can investigate it yourself."

Tim pondered for a moment and said, "Does Nicole know about this?"

"I haven't told her yet. I don't want to ruin her happiness of travelling."

Samuel said domineeringly.

Tim whispered, "You'd better not tell her. I'm going to deal with it on my own. For her, the vacation with

you and your children is so precious. Don't ruin her happiness."

"I know how to take care of my wife's feelings. I won't inform her, but you must promise not to let her

worry. You know, I can't stand when she worries about you."

"I see, Mr. Jealous."

Tim hung up the phone and began to muse.

If there was indeed an excess of lead in his body, what should he do if he and Evelyn had a baby?

Tim was very worried.

A lead-poisoned baby must be aborted, otherwise Evelyn's health would suffer. Moreover, he knew that

if it was up to Evelyn, she would not give up the baby.

Tim was a little nervous.

He hurriedly came to Evelyn and hugged her from behind.

"What's the matter?"

Because of Ballard's death, Tim was in a low mood these days. Evelyn thought that Tim might have

thought of Ballard again, and that was why he came to hug her. She couldn't help inquiring in a low

voice.

Tim was in a mental struggle.

They had been married for only a few days, and it was hard to tell if she was pregnant or not. He simply

couldn't find a way to inform her.

Tim became more and more conflicted.

He did not answer Evelyn. Evelyn turned around to look at him and perceived his melancholy. She

couldn't help but console him and say, "Everything will be fine. Trust me, no matter what happens, I will

be by your side."

"I trust you, but I don't trust myself."

Tim wanted a child of his own more than anyone else.

He was truly lonely now. As a person who had lost his parents, he was so desperate to pass on his

genes. Now, he was so afraid.

Evelyn sensed Tim's disquiet and asked smilingly, "What's wrong?"

"Let me show you something."

Tim took out his phone and showed Evelyn the medical report.

Evelyn was puzzled, but when she saw the medical report, her expression changed.

"How could it be?"

"I was just informed. Evelyn, we haven't used any contraception. What if we have a baby...?"

Tim felt that he was being really cruel now, but he had no choice but to say it.

Evelyn understood where Tim's worries came from now.

"If I am pregnant, then let's abort it. After all, we should be responsible for lives."

It was a hard decision for Evelyn.

She also wanted to have a baby who inherits their genes for Tim, but the current situation made her

give up.

Right now, she could only hope that she wasn't pregnant. Perhaps she would not feel too sad then.

Tim hugged her tightly.

"I'm sorry, Evelyn, I'm sorry. It's all my fault."

"Idiot, it's not your fault. Do you know who poisoned you?"

"I have a guess, but I'm not sure. I'll find it out on my own and tell you about that."

Tim seemed to be revengeful.

He was no longer the playboy who did not take anything seriously. He couldn't bear that someone was

scheming against him and hurting the person that he cared about most. He wanted a revenge.

Because of the lead poisoning, Evelyn was more worried. She stroked her belly, hoping that she was

not pregnant. But at the time, she hoped that she was pregnant. This dilemma troubled her.

"Dad is going to be cremated tomorrow. Should we go back to the Seapolis City to hold the funeral?"

Evelyn asked.

Tim was silent for a while and then nodded and said, "Good suggestion. As a native of the Seapolis

City, my father should be buried in his hometown, although he died elsewhere. Let's take his ashes

there tomorrow."

Tim felt sorry for the untimely funeral. Now that there was the lead poisoning, he did not know how to

compensate Evelyn.

Evelyn gripped his hand as if she could feel what was in Tim's heart, and she said softly, "I am your

wife. When I first met you, you were still a serviceman, and I was prepared for becoming the wife of a

serviceman. I wasn't even afraid of the difficulties that I would encounter as the wife of a serviceman,

let alone the current difficulties. Don't worry. No matter what difficulties the future has in store for us, I

will always be there by your side. We are a couple and if we pull together, nothing will defeat us."

"Yes."

Tim nodded and hugged Evelyn again.

"I don't want you to suffer, but these things just blindsided me. I am so sorry. After we've dealt with

them, I promise to take you on a honeymoon travel.

"That's settled then."

Evelyn had no objection to Tim's decision.

She loved Tim heart and soul.

Tim and her hugged for a while before they walked out.

Surely, Tim had an approach to have a physical examination conducted by doctors who were on his

side.

In order to verify whether there was really an excess of lead in his body, he had a physical examination

conducted by his men. The results were exactly the same as the results that Samuel had shown him.

Who poisoned him?

Could the person be related to the death of his father, Ballard?

Tim couldn't figure this out.

Ballard died so suddenly that there was barely any evidence for him, except the body, to solve the

puzzle.

At the same time, however, Fill found a guy with the help of the casino.

His name was Kody.

He was about the same age as Ballard.

He was an ordinary manager in the casino, and received Ballard every time Ballard came to the casino.

Fill focused on this guy and found out that he came from the Seapolis City. He left the Seapolis City for

the casino twenty years ago. It was puzzling that Kody's wife and children seemed to have disappeared

then.

There had been no news of them for so many years, and Kody had never looked for them.

This was interesting.

As Fill further investigated Kody's background, he found that in the Seapolis City, Kody and Ballard had

met, and surprisingly, it was the year when Martha gave birth to Tim.

Therefore, it was very likely that Kody knew something about Ballard and Martha.

After reaching the preliminary conclusion, Fill immediately called on his people to capture Kody. He

was sure that he could get the truth if he interrogated Kody.

However, Kody had probably be informed, and when Fill and his men arrived, Kody was gone.

Fill was irritated by not seeing the suspect.

"Search! Search every nook and cranny. I must find him or at least his valuable belongings."

After Fill issued the order, everyone began to rummage through the boxes and cabinets.

Apparently, there was nothing valuable in Kody's house. After a thorough search, they did not find

anything valuable at all.

Could it be that he took them with him when he escaped?

Fill thought in an annoyed mood.

He was after all, too late.

He angrily kicked the chair and heard a cracking sound. It seemed to be something important. All of a

sudden, the cabinet in front of him opened automatically, and a small safe showed

up.
