Faced with Samuel's question, Mrs. Bush was at a loss. In fact, the answer came to Mrs. Bush, but she
just didn't want to say it.
Samuel also knew this, but now he had to force Mrs. Bush to tell what she wanted.
"Mom, if you can't make up your mind, I will just turn my back on Melissa."
"No! Don't be like that!"
Mrs. Bush became anxious instantly.
Samuel's eyes were cold.
Mrs. Bush was silent for a minute before saying, "With you, the Dons, and the Shaws as her backings,
Nicole can still live well even without us. But that's not the case with Melissa. Melissa was sent to the
orphanage and suffered a lot from an early age. We owe Melissa too much. She only has us with her.
Samuel, don't push me, okay?"
Samuel's face fell.
"Should Nicole be abandoned by you just because she has the Dons, the Shaws, and me as her
backings? Nicole is not an object, much less a piece of trash. You being nice to her is just a passing
fancy. When you have found Melissa, you're going to trash Nicole as if she is a piece of garbage. Now
you come to Nicole since you need her. Do you think that she's so tough that she won't be sad? Nicole
considers you as her parents all these years, but do you care for her as your own daughter?"
Facing Samuel's rebuke, Mrs. Bush didn't refute him but remained silent.
Samuel knew that Mrs. Bush would not change her mind.
Samuel couldn't help but feel deeply sorry for Nicole.
How sad Nicole would be after knowing that.
"Mrs. Bush, I can promise you to bring Melissa back, but please leave Nicole alone from now on.
Forget Nicole since you only care about Melissa. I think it's best that we won't be in touch. Of course,
Nicole and I will do the last honors to you when you pass away. As long as you take the deal, I will save
Melissa."
The condition that Samuel offered was a bit harsh. If Mr. and Mrs. Bush felt a shred of sadness to leave
Nicole, Samuel would be more lenient. However, when Samuel finished, Mrs. Bush said without a
moment's hesitation, "Alright, I agree. As long as you save Melissa, we won't disturb your lives. I
promise."
Although Samuel had guessed it, he was surprised that Mrs. Bush didn't think twice.
Samuel was relieved that Nicole didn't make the call. Otherwise, Nicole would be so heartbroken.
Samuel took a deep breath and said, "Alright, I will bring Melissa back. Keep your word."
Samuel hung up. As Samuel turned around, he saw Nicole leaning against the balcony door and
looking at him, her eyes gloomy.
"Nicole? When did you come?"
Samuel felt a flutter.
Nicole wanted to laugh, but she couldn't.
"Does Mrs. Bush care so much about blood ties?"
"Don't be like this. Everyone has their own choices. It's not a bad thing. We don't owe Mr. and Mrs.
Bush anything. If you feel guilty about their fostering all these years, I'll give them a sum of money in
return."
Samuel knew that Nicole should have heard everything.
Right now, Nicole only hoped that Nicole cut herself from Mr. and Mrs. Bush soon so that she wouldn't
be hurt.
"Is money everything?" Nicole asked in a low voice.
"No, but Mr. and Mrs. Bush don't have money. They want to give Melissa the best life, so they won't
refuse."
"So they sold me, right? For Melissa, they sold me and gave up our relationship."
"Nicole, you still have me, Audrey and Uncle Mark."
Nicole nodded.
"I know."
Nicole didn't say anything else and turned around to leave the balcony, but Samuel also knew what she
wanted to say.
Nicole had many relatives, but Mr. and Mrs. Bush played a major part in her life.
Samuel sighed and let Ernesto send Mr. and Mrs. Bush 20 million which they didn't refuse.
Sure enough, Nicole guessed right.
Samuel wanted to comfort Nicole, but Nicole turned on her computer and was drawing the blueprints
seriously. Samuel couldn't bear to disturb her.
Samuel remembered what he promised Mr. and Mrs. Bush. He got up, walked out of the bedroom, and
bumped into Edwin.
"Where are you going?"
"I'm going to meet Elvis."
Samuel said to Edwin truthfully.
Edwin whispered, "Be careful. I don't want Nicole to be sad. She depends on you."
"I see."
Samuel smiled and walked out of the Shaw's.
After Samuel got in the car, he directly called Lucas.
"Lucas, have you located Elvis?"
"Yeah. I'll send it to you. Is Mommy alright?"
Lucas was very worried about Nicole.
"She's fine. Nicole's drawing the blueprint. She's going to participate in the design competition."
"Oh, that's it."
Lucas sent Samuel Elvis' location.
"Do you need my help?"
"You stand by. I need you in place at any time."
"Alright."
Lucas didn't say anything else.
Samuel drove towards the position Lucas told him.
It was a residential area in the middle of the city.
Samuel really admired Elvis.
Elvis really hid in the downtown area.
Samuel sat in the car and lit a cigarette, feeling despondent.
Samuel had personally sent Zama to prison, but now, was he going to personally catch Elvis?
No matter what, Samuel always felt that it was somewhat ridiculous.
After smoking, Samuel extinguished the cigarette butt before stalling the car and getting off it.
As soon as Samuel pushed open the gate of the courtyard, he heard Melissa's voice.
"Uncle Elvis, what would you want to eat? I'll buy it for you. I remember that you like sweet and sour
ribs best, right? How about I buy some ribs?"
Elvis didn't look like a kidnapper, nor did Melissa look like a hostage.
Samuel couldn't help but sneer.
Elvis was very irritated and said indifferently, "Whatever. Don't bother me. By the way, did Mrs. Bush
call Nicole? Will she come in exchange for you?"
"Definitely. Nicole is very filial to my mom and won't refuse if my mom calls. After all, my mom has
raised Nicole for so many years. Nicole has to repay it."
"That's not necessarily the case."
Samuel said indifferently.
Elvis abruptly looked up and saw Samuel walk in alone.
"Samuel?"
Melissa panicked.
Elvis looked at Samuel. When Elvis saw that there was no one behind Samuel, Elvis heaved a sigh of
relief.
"I thought it would be Nicole. Now that I see you, I know that all my years of hard work are in vain.
Samuel, you're really my son!"
"Don't say that. If there was a choice, I would rather not be your son."
Samuel closed the door.
Samuel looked at Melissa and said somewhat disgustedly, "Go to the kitchen to cook. I'll talk to Elvis
alone."
Melissa looked at Elvis then.
"Go."
Elvis nodded. Melissa went to the kitchen, but still cast uneasy glances at Elvis and Samuel.
Seeing this, Samuel sneered and said, "You are really strange. You're kind to outsiders but are cold to
your own relatives. So are you cold-blooded? Or is there good in you?"
Elvis naturally knew what Samuel was talking about.
Elvis sat opposite Samuel and whispered, "As for Petty, it's an unplanned pregnancy."
"Oh? What do you mean?"
Samuel seemed to be interested.
Elvis sighed and said, "Do you have a cigarette?"
"Yes."
Samuel took out a cigarette and lit it for Elvis.
Elvis pulled on his cigarette and said, "Lillian was chosen by your grandfather for me."
"I see."
Samuel understood.
"So you felt that Grandpa wanted to control you. Even if you were not happy with that, you didn't dare
to offend Grandpa. You wanted the data list, so you were nice to Lillian in public. But you wanted her to
die, right?"
"That's right. I wanted to kill Lillian, but I didn't expect her to be pregnant. Vincent and you were in the
Green's and were still young. Gerry was born with a disability, and wouldn't make it through thirty years
old. So I would like to have a healthy son by my side. But Lillian gave birth to Petty. What do I need her
for? I had Petty thrown away that night."
When Elvis mentioned this, he was indifferent.
Samuel shook his head and said, "You don't deserve to be a man, let alone a father or husband! You
only care about yourself. No, it's only the genetic modification that matters to you. What if you get
Grandpa's genetic data? You're just replicating emotionless puppets. Do you really think Gerry is
obedient? Maybe you don't think so? You're just proud of your work. You're flaunting your
accomplishments to the world. You have to tell everyone that without Grandpa's data, you can still
complete your dream by yourself, right? "
Elvis paused, then smiled and said, "You really are my son. That's right. That is indeed my dream, but
is there anything wrong with it?"
"No, but you shouldn't base all of that on the pain of others. Have you ever loved Zama?"
Samuel couldn't help but ask when he remembered that Zama didn't marry all her life.
Elvis said coldly, "No, I love Zama's family of herbal doctors, and she can dispense herbals. Women
like Zama are in good health, suitable for having children, especially multiple births."
Hearing this, Samuel suddenly punched Elvis in the face.
Elvis' nose was bleeding, but he heard Samuel say, "You are indeed a scumbag!"
"Well, so what? You're my flesh and blood even if you hate to admit it. Samuel, do you want to catch
me personally? Aren't you afraid of being punished by God?"
When Elvis mentioned this, he was indifferent.
Samuel shook his head and said, "You don't deserve to be a man, let alone a father or husband! You
