"Crap, it's a person?"
Joseph rarely talked dirty. Since growing up, he had been sophisticated and steady as a young adult,
and this time he was really surprised.
Lucas wanted to say crap too, but when he heard Joseph say it, he stopped. But what was going
through his mind was the same as his.
Although they were well hidden, the man ran over quickly and picked them up, one by one.
"Hey, hey, hey!"
Joseph rushed up in alarm when he heard the man say in a low voice, "Shut up!"
He did hear whose voice it was.
"Grandpa?"
He hadn't expected them to really draw Grandpa out, but was the fast man from earlier really Grandpa?
Joseph was completely dumbfounded.
Although he had heard Lucas talk about Xander's mutation, there was a difference between seeing it
with his own eyes and just hearing it with his ears.
Lucas was much calmer and didn't say much, instead, letting Xander carry him and then just feeling the
wind whistling in his ears.
If only he had that kind of speed.
Xander didn't realize how much of a shock he had given the two boys but quickly looked around.
People from the Shaffer family were coming soon, so he had to leave with the two children first, just in
case.
Joseph and Lucas were taken by Xander to a quadrangle that was very private, but judging by the
location, it wasn't affordable for the average person to live in.
Lucas took stock of the house. On the way here, although Xander was fast, Lucas took a look at the
surroundings and the environment.
This should belong to a private residence.
So this was Grandpa's property?
Lucas was pondering, while Xander had picked them up and placed them safely on the ground.
Joseph's eyes were sparkly.
"Grandfather, can I take some of your blood?"

"Okay. But the Don Family's blood is complicated and with the mutated genes in my body, it's not very
easy to separate out the original blood. I'm afraid it will take you a lot of time. I've had blood drawn and
frozen from time to time for your experiments. Even if anything happens to me, you can still continue

Lucas had never known Joseph to be so eloquent. It seemed he could have been a lawyer if he hadn't
gone into medicine.
Xander was confused by Joseph's question.
Of course, he didn't want to, but there were things he had to prepare for.
"What did you come to see me about?"
"I forget."
Joseph was frank and amused Lucas. It was only in front of his own family that he acted like a child.
Xander laughed too.
The three of them sat together. A calmness and quietness that had never been felt before filled the
room, but it gave a sense of the peacefulness of the years.
The Shaffer family’s training ground was not so peaceful. Journalists, firefighters, and police were out
in force. Two fires within two days had once put the Shaffer family's training ground on everyone's
radar.
With the videos taken by passers-by spreading rapidly online, Cody Shaffer couldn't sit still.
"Damn it! Who the hell set the fires?"
He kicked over the stool in anger but was still not relieved.
"Xander! It must be him!"
Cody Shaffer's eyes were bloodshot.
Mrs. Shaffer had never had much say in the family, and because she had always had girls, she was not
liked by Cody Shaffer. Seeing her walk in, Cody Shaffer, who was furious, went straight forward and
yanked Mrs. Shaffer's hair.

Cody Shaffer vented all his anger on Mrs. Shaffer. He punched and kicked her, not treating Mrs.
Shaffer as a human being at all.
Mrs. Shaffer was bruised and swollen, yet she still protected her head. Tears blinded her eyes, and
there was no hope left in her heart for her to live.
When Cody Shaffer was tired of beating her, he said to the maids, "Take her back. Don't let her get in
my way again. And don't get her a doctor. If anyone outside finds out she was beaten by me, you'll all
be punished."
The maids were so frightened that they dragged Mrs. Shaffer back to her bedroom like she was a dead
dog.
Mrs. Shaffer lay on the bed, looking at the ceiling, and suddenly laughed a little wildly.
What kind of sins had she done in her life?
She had actually married such a man!
She really missed her child so much now.
It had been so many years, and she didn't know how that child was doing now. She was so glad that
she had sent that child away, otherwise, she did not know what she would have become if she had
grown up in such a family.
Her body ached like it was about to split open.
Mrs. Shaffer knew that she had had a lot of illnesses over the years and she didn't know if she would
survive until she found her little girl. If it wasn't for this hope holding her up, she really wouldn't have
been able to make it.
There was a knock on the door outside. Mrs. Shaffer didn't make a sound, and she didn't care much
about who came and who left.
Luna opened the door and came in. Tears welled up in her eyes when she saw Mrs. Shaffer all bruised
and battered.
"Miss, have you been beaten by him again?"
Luna was the maid Mrs. Shaffer brought over from her house when she got married. Luna hadn't left
her even after she got married and had done all the work to send the young miss away back then.
But Mrs. Shaffer was in no mood, as if she didn't care about the pain in her body anymore.
Luna felt heartbroken. She took out the medicinal wine and rubbed it on her, then whispered in a voice
that only the two of them could hear, "Miss, I have news of the young miss."
"What did you say?"
Mrs. Shaffer took Luna's hand in hers, looking very excited.
Luna, however, couldn't bring herself to say it.
If she told her the truth about what had happened, would she be able to bear
it?
