Davon had a high fever that had last for days, but there was no other symptom. Morgan didn't know
what to do, so she could only use the clumsiest method to keep him alive.
Three days soon passed. Morgan was so tired that she could hardly stand. She thought that Davon
would continue to have the fever, yet she found that the fever stopped.
Morgan cried out in joy.
The families of the deceased are about to start the funeral.
Morgan put Davon on the hearse according to her plan and followed the deceased to the crematorium.
After the hearse entered, a staff member came to check. After exchanging a glance with Morgan, he
took Davon away.
Morgan got out of the car and followed the staff to the urn hall with Davon through the internal
channels.
There weren't many people here, only one or two waiters.
Morgan covered Davon with a white cloth and pushed him into a special room at the side.
The temperature in this room is a little low, but it is still good for Davon. Others would probably not
believe that Davon would stay in the crematorium.
"What happened?"
After the staff left, Morgan saw Jarrod.
She was a little surprised and even shuddered, but she still asked doubtfully, "Mr. Jarrod, why are you
here?"
"Samuel called and asked me to take care of him. From now on, you will be following my orders. He
will be safe here during this time. Let me know if you need any medicine or equipment. No matter at
what cost, you must save him."
"Yes."
Morgan was afraid of Jarrod.
He was brought up by Jayden and was extremely familiar with the bugs. He could easily and silently
inflict the bugs on people, making them suffer a lot. Such a man was truly a terrifying existence.
Jarrod did not put too much pressure on her as he turned around and walked out.
Amelia had been much better, and when she saw Jarrod come out, she hurriedly welcomed him.
"That wasn't proper. She was the Satan King after all."
"Just in case, why didn't you put on your coat again?"
Jarrod couldn't help but frown when he saw Amelia's thin body.
Amelia smiled and said, "I don't feel cold."
"But I do."
Then Jarrod draped his coat over Amelia's body. The warmth made Amelia blush.
Right now, she was very happy. All she wanted was to spend the rest of her life with Jarrod.
"Do you think Samuel will be fine?"
Amelia was still a little worried.
Jarrod looked at the smoke outside and said calmly, "They will be fine. He never does things that he
isn't confident about. However, this Davon has really caused Samuel to pay a great price. A year or two
of isolation is usual when it comes to this."
"But what should they do then? It will be a long time. What about their kids? They can't see their
parents?"
Amelia thought it was unfair.
Jarrod held her hands in his and blew on them. He whispered, "It won't be too long with the Don and
the Shaw family there, but I may have to be back to the Green family for a while these days."
"I'll go with you."
Amelia said gently and Jarrod smiled.
"You can't run from me anyway, can you?"
Standing together, they had made a beautiful landscape painting out of themselves.
On the third morning, Phoenix's fever finally stopped. Looking at Zayn in front of her, she felt as if he
had become much more haggard.
"Zayn, why are you here?"
"You've been running a fever for three days. How can I leave before you wake up?"
Zayn's voice was hoarse.
Phoenix had never found her brother so lovely. But no she was touched. Perhaps it was because of
Davon, or perhaps it was because they were related by blood, she needed him very much now.
"Zayn, I seem to have seen Davon in my dream."
Phoenix felt a sting in her heart when talking about Davon.
Zayn knew what she was feeling, but there were some things he couldn't tell her. He could only watch
helplessly as Phoenix was in pain.
"Everything is in vain if a person dies. You have to be open-minded. You have to know that if he was
still alive, he would definitely not want to see you like this."
Hearing Zayn's words, Phoenix's eyes were flooded with tears again.
"I dreamt that he was looking at me with blood all over his body as if he had millions of things to tell me
yet didn't know where to start. I could feel that he didn't want to leave me, but he still did. He walked
farther and farther away. No matter how hard I chased after him, I couldn't catch up. In the past,
whenever I cried, he would come back to comfort me. This time I cried for so long, fell, and broke my
knees, but he didn't stay. Zayn, is that true that I can only see him in my dreams?"
What Phoenix made Zayn cry.
"Inez, actually..."
"Zayn, the head guard wants to see you."
Zayn was interrupted by Lucas, and he instantly became sober.
He almost spilled the beans.
There was nothing he could do. Phoenix looked so sad and painful, causing his heart to ache. If Lucas
didn't show up, he would have made a big mistake.
Zayn glanced at Lucas and saw Lucas walking over with a bowl of millet porridge.
"Phoenix, I asked the cook to make it for you. It's warm and you should have it now. The doctor said
that you can only have some liquid food these days. When you get better, I'll ask Wendy to make you
sweet and sour pork ribs."
Lucas was considerate and he made Phoenix moved.
"Alright, thank you, Lucas."
Phoenix took the millet porridge and began to eat it.
Seeing this, Zayn stood up.
"I'll go now. Tell me if you need anything."
"Alright."
Phoenix nodded.
Losing Davon was very painful for her, but the dead had already passed away, so she still had to plan
for the living.
Phoenix knew that her heart was dead. The moment she learned that Davon had passed away, her
heart was buried together.
Now she had to take good care of the children for Nicole and Samuel as well as the Don family and her
parents-in-law.
How sad they would be if they knew about Davon's death!
She still had tons of things to deal with so that she would have to recover as soon as possible.
Phoenix tried her best to eat more. Lucas had always been there with her. He was quiet, but he could
always give people a sense of warmth.
She couldn't help but wonder, if she could give birth, what would her child with Davon be like?
Wasn't he as obedient and clever as Lucas?
Phoenix's heart ached again.
"Lucas, I have been ill these past few days. I bet you didn't get much rest as well, right? Come on up
then. Let me hold you and let's get some sleep."
Usually Lucas would definitely refuse.
He was already five years old, how could he sleep with a woman? However, Davon had gone and
Phoenix was so sad. He didn't know what was going on with Mommy and Daddy. So he should take the
responsibility to take care of Phoenix, shouldn't he?
Thus, Lucas took off his shoes and went to bed, obediently lying in the arms of Phoenix.
The little boy felt warm and she was filled with strength when holding him.
Phoenix thought that it might be maternal love, but it was a pity that she could not experience it for the
rest of her life.
Therefore, her affection for Lucas grew.
She was sick, so she fell asleep soon with Lucas in her arms. Lucas looked outside. Since there was
nothing he could do now, then why didn't he get some sleep? No matter what he would do next, he
would have to sleep well first.
Phoenix did not dream this time and slept soundly.
Two days later, Phoenix had recovered and she decided to return home.
Although Zayn was a little reluctant, he knew that this was Phoenix's decision. Besides, it wouldn't be
of any help if Phoenix stayed.
"Call me if you need anything in Seapolis City. If the people in charge there find fault with you, tell me
about it as well. Although our country is full of ruins, if my sister is bullied, I will not bear with it."
What Zayn didn't say was that if he didn't protect Phoenix well, Davon would probably kill him when he
returned.
Phoenix was very touched.
After so many years, she didn't expect that after losing Davon, she would finally have a brother.
"Got it, Zayn. After I leave, no one will help you. You should get along well with the officials. If you need
help, turn to Sienna. She'll give you a hand for the sake of the Sawyers."
Zayn nodded.
"I see. I'll be fine. But you need to be extremely calm when you get there. You'll be alone and the Don
family will be in a mess. Your parents-in-law won't be in a good mood, so you'll have to take care of
them."
"Yes."
They talked for some time before Phoenix went onto the plane with Lucas.
The operation with Laurence as the bait had come to an end. As Davon died and Laurence went
missing, those people in the dark also disappeared, as if they had never existed before.
Xander and Audrey were still looking into Martin, but they were like looking for a needle in a haystack.
It was completely clueless.
It was decided that Xander and Audrey would continue to study the mutated animals in the Dark Forest
while Phoenix and Lucas were taken back to the Don family after they got there.
"Jason."
The moment Phoenix spoke, she choked up.
Jason's eyes were already red. He held back his tears and said, "You've suffered a lot. No matter
whether Davon is here or not, you are still part of our family. If one day you have met another someone,
then the Don family will be your family."
Phoenix immediately cried.
"Jason, I will never fall in love with another person for the rest of my life. It hurts a lot."
Jason looked at Phoenix with deep concerns and waved his hand to bring her into the car. Lucas was
also picked up.
As the car drove towards the Don's, Lucas suddenly said, "Jason, have my sister and brother been
back yet?"
Jason was slightly stunned.
Things happened these days. He nearly collapsed after hearing that Davon had died. He didn't take
notice of the two Green kids at all.
So he had to say, "Weren't they at home?"
Lucas paused and said in a mumble, "Jason, take me home, please. I want to go home."
