Kelly called Alison to him after entertaining them.
"Alison, come, let me introduce you. This is your aunt, Ebby."
Kelly introduced Alison to the leader of the group that had just returned, who was a nurse from the
Military Command Hospital in the war zone where Nicole was, and the leader of the twelve.
Alison stepped forward and took a look at Ebby. She was a beauty, but unfortunately, she seemed to
harbor some evil intentions.
"Auntie!"
Alison restrained herself and called out in a low voice, but without much emotion.
Ebby looked at Alison as she frowned.
"Dad, this is the child that my brother lost more than twenty years ago?"
Kelly smiled and said, "Yes, we fled Country Z in a hurry at that time, and we lost Alison. Now we've
managed to get her back. Your brother is very happy. And Alison is retired now. Isn't she great?"
Ebby, however, looked at Alison suspiciously and said, "You've done a paternity test?"
"This is the paternity test report. Take a look."
Kelly gave the paternity test report to Ebby.
Ebby looked at the data on it, and then at Alison's face, and felt that she really looked quite similar to
her brother. Then she said in a low voice, "Don't blame me for being cautious. After all, the Close family
is in danger. How about this? Let's do another paternity test?"
"Ebby!"
Seeing Alison's mocking smile, Kelly could not help but speak up and reprimand Ebby.
"I had the paternity test done myself. Don’t you even trust me?"
"Dad, I didn't mean it like that. I just think we need to be a bit cautious at this time."
"I agree. You can do whatever you want. Just hurry up. I still have to get back to visit my dad."
Alison's voice was cold and distant for no apparent reason.
Ebby frowned slightly. She didn't really like Alison being so aloof, but that was how people of the Close
family were supposed to be.
She didn't know exactly how she was feeling, and she was both displeased and relieved at the
moment.
As her aunt, she felt displeased that her niece had spoken to her in this way, but as the future
successor of the Close family, she felt that Alison was just right.
Ebby had mixed feelings, but she had someone come over and took blood from her and Alison.
After the blood was drawn, Alison said indifferently, "Can I go back now?"
"Alison, don't blame your aunt. She is busying away from home all the time and it is always right to be
cautious."
Kelly spoke up in a hurry.
Alison, however, said indifferently, "It's alright. She's just an arms dealer. How much more can I expect
her to feel for me? Besides, if my father hadn't been paralyzed, I don't think she would have been so
tired. My aunt is over forty now, isn't she? Is she married? For the sake of the Close family, she has
sacrificed her whole life's happiness, which really makes me admire her."
"Alison!"
Ebby's face changed instantly.
Kelly also sensed the hostility between Alison and Ebby and couldn't help but speak up.
"Alright, alright, Alison, just go back first. Your aunt has just returned, and I have something to talk to
her about."
Alison shrugged her shoulders and turned to leave.
Ebby, however, said angrily after Alison left, "Dad, her attitude is simply ..."
"Okay, okay. Alison was left behind by us for more than twenty years. It's normal for her to feel resentful
now. I have investigated it, and she was adopted by the local orphanage after we left her behind. But
she wasn't in good health because she was young and scared after leaving her parents, and had a
high fever. Then there was an earthquake in that area and the whole orphanage was buried in the
earth. And she had narrowly escaped death before she climbed up from inside the rubble. She suffered
a lot at that time. If your brother hadn't stayed behind to cover and escort us away first, he wouldn't
have broken his legs and Alison wouldn't have been an orphan for so many years. Now she's back.
Although she has a bad temper, she is at least back. So just don't take it too hard with her."
Mentioning the past, Ebby couldn't help but sigh.
More than twenty years ago, if her brother hadn't tried to save her, he wouldn't have lost his legs, let
alone his daughter Alison.
"I know. But she has spent time in the Military Command after all. I'm afraid she doesn't really care
about the Close family."
Kelly shook his head and said, "Ebby, you have to believe in blood ties. I have observed that Alison is
really good to your brother and sister-in-law, and she is kind of close to me. She had also helped the
Close family in the matter of Nicole and Samuel. After all, she's a child of the Close family, so she's not
going to watch your brother and sister-in-law die."
"Let's hope so."
The results of the test still needed time, and Ebby went back to rest after briefly talking to Kelly about
the situation.
After leaving the hall, Alison made her way to her father's room.
Seeing her enter, Clark hurriedly asked, "I heard that your aunt has returned. How is she doing?"
Seeing that Clark cared so much about Ebby, Alison felt a little displeased.
"You are really attached to her. More than twenty years ago, you lost me for her. Now that I'm back, but
I haven't seen you treat me with much enthusiasm. Instead, you're anxious to see her as soon as she
returns."
"Alison."
Hearing her daughter say this, Old Mrs. Close couldn't help but speak up.
Clark looked at Alison and a trace of sadness crossed his eyes before he said in a low voice, "Your
aunt sacrificed too much for the Close family back then. If it wasn't for her, all those people of the Close
family wouldn't have been able to survive. She was married to the local military officer at the time. For
everyone in the Close family to evacuate, she held her husband hostage, so much so that her husband
turned against her. She's lived a pretty hard life."
"She deserved it! She had a good life, but instead of cherishing it, she had to make trouble for herself.
For the Close family? Don't you know what the Close family has done? But I do admire the unity of the
Close family. It's like everyone is obsessed with the cause of the Close family and they are willing to do
whatever it takes. It doesn't matter if you throw everything away, does it? So I deserved to be thrown
away, and I'm lucky to be alive, right?"
Alison told herself not to get angry, but she couldn't help it.
What kind of freaks were they?
Once she was Tracy, an orphan. She envied those children who had parents and envied them for
having someone to love and care for them. Then she joined the army, and only then did she truly
experience what it meant to be loved.
Chad loved her like she was his own granddaughter, and it was only in the military that she felt the
warmth of family and what it meant to be sisters and brothers.
Now that she finally knew who she was and where she came from, but she had never hated her identity
more than she did at this moment.
She was actually a member of the Close family!
If she had to choose, she would rather be Tracy for the rest of her life than Alison for a day!
