Sage left the room so that Tim could get some rest. When she was back in her room, she received a
few photos and a video from Laura. The photos were of Sienna with a swollen face. Her elegant face
was so swollen that it was hard to tell what she originally looked like. She was kneeling on the ground
with her head looking down and her body swaying around. ‘What did she do to receive such
retribution?’ Sage thought. She played the video, and she saw Sienna get slapped in the face and the
sound was as loud as fireworks. Although it was not a good time to gloat, Sage did not think so when it
came to Sienna. She felt very happy instead. Later, Laura made a call. “How was it? Are you happy to
see Sienna, the homewrecker, being slapped?”
“Thrilled.” Sage smiled as she opened the door. She asked, “Who was the good samaritan who did this
good deed?” Laura laughed out loud cheerfully and answered, “It is a good deed but not by a good
samaritan.”
Then she told Sage that a childhood friend of hers was the one who did it, Shanie Hill. ‘Isn’t that Peter’s
wife?’ Sage was not a stranger of that name. “You know Shanie?” Sage asked with surprise. Laura
said, “We grew up together in the same community. We always played together when we were small,
and I was the one who protected her. Then her father got relocated, and we did not see each other for
a long time. However, we have always kept in contact. She was a princess when she was little, always
very gentle and soft, unlike me. Then…I think her stepmom had affected her badly and resulted in the
changes in her characteristics. She is now like a runaway wild horse.”
After the explanation from Laura, Sage finally understood a little bit more about Shanie. Shanie’s father
was a secretary for Salem City, a person who held an important position. He had two marriages, and
his current wife was the daughter from a prestigious family. After she married Shanie’s father, she
arranged three marriages for Shanie. The marriage with Peter was Shanie’s third marriage.
They did not bond because they love each other but because they could take advantage of being
married to each other. Most people from prestigious families often ended up with arranged marriages.
Laura was not particularly a person who liked to gossip. She only told Sage those things because
Shanie had requested her to do so. “Shanie was the one who sent me those photos and video. She
asked me to forward it to you.” Sage squinted her eyes, “Shanie asked you to forward it to me?”
Laura said, “Yes. She said that Sienna had wrecked both of your marriages. Those who have the same
misfortune sympathize with each other. Maybe one day, both of you could be friends. Oh yea, she also
said that Peter and she are separate entities. Whatever Peter did was his own doing and had nothing
to do with her or the Hill family.”
When Sage heard that, her heart skipped a beat. “The last sentence is the main point. I guess her third
marriage is coming to an end.’ Then Sage told Laura that she understood.
Laura spoke, “Let’s not talk about those anymore. We don’t call each other very often. How are you
doing in Yathein? Did you have any lovely encounters?”
Sage laughed out loud and complained, “What kind of encounter do you think I could get under my
brother’s watch? I’m grateful that he did not lock me up.”
Laura burst out laughing.
“Stop laughing at me. How’s it going with you and Kane? He is really very serious about you.” Laura
got shy and lowered her head when she heard Kane’s name. “I don’t know either. I have nothing
against him, but the main point is with our families. I don’t know if my parents can accept him.”
“Don’t worry. No one can break up a couple who is destined to be together,” Sage comforted Laura.
“Then what about you and Jace?” Laura asked back in return, “Has your destiny with him come to an
end?”
