Chapter 61 Sage closed her book and handed it over to him.
The pilot’s brows raised slightly. “Your books are not for borrowing, are they?” Sage smiled
mischievously. “Yes, so this is now yours. It’s not for borrowing, but I can give it to you, so it’s not
misaligned with my principles.” Then, she stopped smiling. “However… Please move to one of the
empty seats. I would like to continue my writing.” The pilot shifted his focus to the few pages of
reflections on the small table. Sage quickly covered them up using her hand. Then, she motioned
toward the seat next to her, signaling him to leave as soon as possible.
The pilot was quite patient. He picked up the book and said, “Thank you.”
Then, he moved over to one of the seats on the side and started reading.
Sage was aware that there were typically two pilots on an international flight, but that co pilot seemed
to be slacking a little too much. Did he not have to return to the cockpit and pilot the plane?
The plane still flew steadily in the air, and Sage continued to write her reflections, trying hard to piece
her thoughts together. “I’m done!” She finally finished writing exactly three thousand words-nothing
more, nothing less. She could not think of any other words to make it any longer than three thousand
words. Sage flung her sore hand out in relief. The exercise was more challenging than carving out two
towers.
She thought of discussing it again with Tim so that he would not make her write reflections again.
However, she was certain that carving her journal on a piece of wood would be more meaningful . At
least the wood could be repurposed for something else at the end of the day. She kept her journal
away and stretched her body. She noticed that the pilot was still reading and was even halfway through
it.
He must have been hooked by the book.
Sage did not disturb him anymore and kept her journal papers in her backpack. She thought of taking a
nap in the meantime.
She woke up in between for a meal, and the pilot was gone when she did.
Maybe it was his shift already.
After the meal, Sage did some light reading before she fell asleep again. She did not forget to remind
Abby and Allie to not be so uptight all the time and that they should take a nap too.
“The pilots work in shifts. You bodyguards could do the same too.”
It was soon the wee hours of the night, and Sage woke up in the shaky plane.
As soon as she opened her eyes, she could see the pilot’s perfectly smooth uniform and
expressionless cold face.
He seemed to have taken a rest too. His eyes were slightly red, but he looked refreshed. He said in a
deep voice, “We’re now experiencing air turbulence. Kindly fasten your seatbelt.” Sage was only half
awake, so she huffed subconsciously. She adjusted her seat and was about to fall back to sleep.
Suddenly, a humongous body hovered over her head. She looked up instinctively. Before she could
respond, the person squatted down and fastened her seatbelt for her.
“There, this is safer.”
He showed her the correct way of fastening the seat belt. Sage’s eyes looked into his pair of clear, grey
eyes beneath those bushy brows. She noticed that his eyes were glittering in purple sparkles. It was a
pair of unique purplish-gray eyes. She was stunned as she secretly enjoyed the moment. Soon, the
flight attendant made announcements again and reported that the flight had experienced some air
turbulence. They also reminded the passengers to stow away their tray tables, restore their seat
positions, fasten their seatbelts, and not leave their seats.
Some passengers seemed to be beefing in the economy cabin, and the lead cabin crew hurried out to
resolve the matter. Mister Bushy Brow Iceberg frowned slightly and went out too.
Sage checked her watch. It was fifteen minutes past two in the morning in Salem. They would be
landing at Birmingham Airport in half an hour.
There was an eight-hour difference between Birmingham and Salem City. It was past six in the evening
in Birmingham, and the sun had not set completely. However, it was sunny outside. It was rare for the
weather to be good. Sage mumbled to herself, “I’ll be meeting Tim soon! Would he have the time to
fetch me?”
Someone behind her replied, “Sure, he does.” Shocked, she turned around to see that the pilot had
returned.
The lead cabin crew was an elegant and beautiful lady from Yathein. She generously flattered the pilot,
lavishly throwing all kinds of compliments on him, which basically translated into’ one pilot could take
the spot of two of us flight attendants’.
It seemed that someone deliberately picked on something on the flight, and Ice King Pilot had quickly
resolved it just by showing up with his intimidating aura. Sage was happily watching the drama in
between them, and suddenly… A loud noise exploded out of nowhere!
Bang! Everyone on the plane was beyond shocked!
