Sage flashed a cold glare at Lucas, warning him. “There’s hope for her legs to recover, but
it’ll depend on her perseverance. The good news is the result of our joint efforts and her good luck. This
has nothing to do with you, Chief Spencer. Please keep that in mind.” To Sage, Lucas deserved to
carry the weight of the guilt for a lifetime. Lucas moved his gaze to Sage and took two steps forward.
“Sage, you’ve been married to Jace for years, but we’ve only met a few times. I understand that you
have a problem with me because of my long history with Freya.” – Sage remained silent and waited for
him to finish his sentence. What he said next was just as she expected.
Lucas wore a troubled expression and said, “You dislike me, and that’s fine. Even so, I have to speak
on behalf of Luna. Please have mercy on her. It hasn’t been easy for her to achieve what she has
today. If she’s detained, her career will be ruined.”
Sage could not deal with Luna because of Freya. Therefore, she made Luther stay behind to deal with
it. She urged him to make it hard for them.
Luther had not updated her about the situation at the police station. Judging by Lucas’s humble and
pleading tone, Luna must be in deep trouble. “Chief Spencer, you’re such a good lover.” Sage mocked
with a faint smile, “It’s not easy for Luna to achieve her status today. It’s not easy for her to be a
homewrecker too. It’s not easy for her to take advantage of Chief Spencer’s influence in the industry.
Chief Spencer, it must’ve been hard for you to abandon your wife. Do you think life has been easy for
everyone? Has it been easy for Aunt Freya?” Lucas pursed his lips tightly. His face turned ugly as his
mouth tightened into a thin line.
The ridicule in Sage’s smile was evident. “Life isn’t easy at all. However, people who know good from
evil understand when to stop. You have to pay the price for your actions, and Luna is no exception.”
Lucas bit his lips. He knew Sage was no longer the same as before. She was docile and obedient
when she first married Jace. She was a good daughter-in-law before, but she was not someone he
could mess with.
Despite that, he wanted to give it a try. “Please, be kind and have mercy. If there’s anything you want
from me, I’ll do my best within my capacity to satisfy your demands.” Sage sneered, “Chief Spencer,
you must be joking. First of all, I don’t need anything from you. Secondly, you can never afford what I
really want.” Her face immediately turned chillingly cold. “Consider Luna unlucky for not killing me in the
accident! I’ll never forgive her for this. Soon, I’ll settle all my accounts with her!”
Lucas wanted to see Freya again, but Jace drove him away.
“You should leave. Your presence isn’t welcomed here. I don’t want to see her frustrated again because
of you. I hope you won’t see her again.”
Lucas left without success and wore a grief-stricken face.
Jace looked at Sage and wanted to say something. However, Sage spoke first and stopped him.
“Jace, what you’ve told your father applies to us too. I’m helping to treat Aunt Freya’s legs because of
her gratitude. This is between us and has nothing to do with you. Please don’t overthink it.”
Jace could not say a word. Everything he wanted to say was stuck in his throat.
Lucas deserved it, but was it not the same for him?
After Sage and Ross took a look at Freya’s legs together, they discussed and came up with a treatment
plan.
