It was the first time in many years for it to happen. Sawyer looked at everyone and
explained lightly, “It‘s not that we don‘t want to tell any of you. We were badly hurt then. Not because of
the injury from the accident but when we were fighting with Shawn. When w deserted island, we
basically lived a primitive lifestyle. We had to eat insects and harvest honey to survive. We only got in
touch with the outer world about a year ago.”
Everyone‘s faces looked horrified as they listened in on the conversation. Sawyer was never a person
to ever exaggerate on such things. Although he said it with a very easy and relaxed manner, they could
easily tell that Sawyer and Primrose never had it easy over the past few years.
The rest of them had went through a lot of hardships to get to where they were now. However, there
was no saying that they could survive once they were stranded on a deserted island. Not everyone
could have the ability to adapt to primitive life or to survive out in the wild.
Regardless of anything, Sawyer and Primrose looked like they had not not aged at all. Instead, they
even looked younger than how they used to be.
Sage zoned out and was less aggressive. She looked at her parent with pity, and some guilt even
seeped through too. When she found out that they were still alive, she was thrilled but later her heart
was consumed with hatred and betrayal. Not once had she thought about how difficult it was for them
to survive.
In her heart, she always looked at her parent as role models. They were people with superpowers that
could withstand and endure anything. After today, she finally realized that no matter how powerful and
strong one was, they were also just human beings and had things that were out of their control.
“Don‘t give us that look. No matter how hard it was, we still survived.” Primrose said positively, “As long
as we‘re alive, nothing else would matter. What‘s the saying again? Every cloud has a silver lining. The
only worst part about all of this was that Shawn had been badly wounded this time. At least we could at
least live a peaceful life for a short period without worrying. Let‘s talk about something else. We‘ve not
been home for quite a while.”
Although they managed to hurt Shawn with guns and knives, his subordinates fought through and
managed to rescue him. Everyone was upset and annoyed that they did not get rid of Shawn once and
for all. They were afraid that Shawn would recover and that he would make his comeback
However, Primrose did not allow them to go after him. First of all, their side had also suffered severe
casualties. Compared to Shawn, she treasured her husband and kids‘ life more. Secondly, Shawn was
still a mortal being. It would not be easy for him to make a comeback after suffering such a serious
injury; it was hard to say if any doctor could even save his life. They knew that they would have the
opportunity, if it ever comes in the future, to finally get rid of him once and for all.
While they were chatting, Elder Norah was squatting near the door. He said nothing while smoking his
tobacco pipe; almost like a statue. After Sawyer finished with his drip, he put on his clothes and went to
have a chat with his old man.
Primrose stayed in the living room to instruct and remind the rest of the people about
handling the aftermath of the fight. Although they had the upper hand in this, they should not gloat
about it to others.
Sage and her brothers went to the newly set up ward on the first floor to check on Tim and Kane‘s
conditions. Ross did not participate in the family meeting just now because he needed to take care of
Tim and Kane. All of them took turns explaining what happened to Sawyer and Primrose over the
years. They expressed their sadness in the tone when they spoke.
Sage sat beside the table and said nothing with her head lowered. Tim and Kane were smoking to
ease the painm but also partly because of their boredom,
Luther asked Tim, “Tim, when did you get in touch with mom and Uncle Sawyer? You were really very
secretive about it.”
Tim blew out a puff of smoke. He replied, “A few months ago.”
Sage heard it and lifted her head to look at Tim with her deep black eyes. Both of them made eye
contact but Tim‘s expression did not change. “I lied to you. If you‘re not okay with it, you can just come
and hit me. Don‘t just sit there with a hurtful face. Where are your claws? Did Jace take them away?”
