Jace probably deserved it as well. After all, he did it to himself, and who was he to blame?
Ross’s focus was not on Sage, but on Jekyll instead, he thought and asked, “Why would Jekyll kidnap
you? Just because you saw him doing it, and he would kill you for that?”
death when she saw us, maybe she was worried that we would tell Jace. She told Jekyll to catch us
and we fought hard against them.”
She added, “We thought maybe it was just a simple fight, and suddenly he was on my shoulders
attacking me from behind.”
Assaulting them in broad daylight with guns in his hands, proved he wasn’t just anyone.
Jekyll was extremely evil and violent. Ross looked at Kane and asked, “Don’t you know if someone like
that exists?” Kane froze, “Nope, I haven’t heard of anything about a bearded man. Maybe he just
appeared out of nowhere?” Kane looked at Yoel and asked, “Do you have any impressions of a man
like that?”
Yoel shook his head hard and said, “I tried to investigate, and there was no news for now. Maybe he
was a foreigner.”
Foreigner…? Sage looked cold and she suddenly recalled that man’s eyes. Jace was staring at Sage
all this time and he caught her eyes contriving. “Sage, what’s going on? Are you feeling unwell?” Jace
was worried, he put a blanket on her and his heart ached to look at her pale and tired face.
“Alright, stop questioning for now. Let her get some rest.” Jace helped Sage down on the bed. Maybe
Sage was too exhausted, she did not reject Jace’s help as she laid on his hands. “I want to be alone,
please leave me be,” Sage said to everyone.
She closed her eyes. Sage was still feeling terrorized by what had happened. Everyone left the room.
Compared to Sage, Laura looked as though nothing had happened to her. She was feeling spirited and
energized. Kane looked at her and said, “What about you? Do you need to catch some rest?”
“I’m fine, I just need to lay down somewhere to rest my waist and back. It hurts,” Laura waved her
hands.
Kane looked at her worriedly, “Really? You almost died, aren’t you afraid at all?”
“I didn’t die,” Laura said casually and looked at Kane as if he was the weird one, and she laughed, “You
don’t have to worry about me, I am from the special forces. This was common to me. You can’t judge
me like some commoner.”
“Even if you are not common, you still need some rest,” Kane said as he carried Laura on his
shoulders and looked for an empty ward.
“What on earth are you doing? Put me down!”
Jace closed the door but he did not leave. He looked at Sage quietly on her phone. He had a strange
feeling on his chest. He felt that Sage had hidden something away from them, but he wouldn’t ask if
she wasn’t willing to tell.
Sage closed her eyes and saw the pair of eyes again. That was the coldest, vilest, inhumane pair of
eyes, just like a venomous snake. “Don’t worry, I won’t let you die easily.”
It was him! He did not die!
