Sage could not care for Yoel’s remarks. Looking at Hunter who was starting to get annoyed at Yoel,
Sage said, “Get the documents ready for the horse racing course. Schedule a meeting with them, and
we’ll leave at a quarter past nine sharp.”
“Yes, ma’am.” Leaving the office, Hunter closed the door behind him.
As soon as the door was closed, Hunter cheered silently under his breath.
Hunter was pleased by how Sage had treated Jace earlier as he had always resented Jace for hurting
Sage’s feelings. He thought that Jace had finally got a taste of his own medicine.
The vice CEO, Finn Janssen, was making his way to the CEO’s office when he spotted Hunter’s
strange behavior. “What are you doing?”
“Mr. Finn” Hunter quickly regained his composure and greeted Finn. At Finn’s request, Hunter reported
everything that had happened from last night to this morning.
Finn simply furrowed his brows.
Jace Yuriel again?
What exactly happened at Nadeem City during the three years Sage had gone missing? Why did she
change so much? What had broken her heart and caused her to become so defensive?
Could Jace Yuriel have a thing to do with this?
At the thought of this, Finn passed the documents to Hunter, tumed around, and entered the lift. He
planned to get his answers today.
In the main lobby, Zayne stood silently behind Jace as he studied Jace’s expression carefully. He was
worried that Jace would fly into a rage and tear down the entire building.
After so many years of working alongside Jace, this was the first time he had seen Jace personally
request for a collaboration and have that request denied.
The last time that Jace was rejected was here at the Norah Group’s building too, and he had been
rejected by the same person.
The last time, Sage said, “No, I don’t have the time. Meet me? He can wait till he is in his next life.”
This time, Sage said, “Who are you?”
Sage had rejected Jace coldly, twice.
If it was someone else who had treated them this way, Zayne would have gladly bumed down the entire
building without even having Jace ask him to.
However, this was Sage the owner of Norah Group. As a mere assistant, Zayne had no right to meddle
in Jace and Sage’s business.
“Sir, should we come another day instead?”
With his lips pressed tightly together, Jace could not seem to find the words to describe his feelings.
It was a mixture of disappointment, anger, and embarrassment.
How could she ask who he was?
Was she obsessed with pretending that he was a stranger?
Why was Yoel allowed to follow her?
Why would Sage agree to work with Yoel instead of him?
“Oh, hello there, Sir. You’re here again?”
Jace heard a clear and crisp voice. It was Yuri Harley, the lady at the front desk that had helped Jace
schedule a meeting with Sage.
She pulled into a bright smile at the sight of the handsome Jace. “You’re here to meet Miss Sage, I
suppose? Have you been able to schedule an appointment this time around?”
“Yeah.” Jace nodded.
Confused, Zayne took a quick glance at Jace.
Without even checking, Yuri immediately responded, “Okay. This way, please. I will escort you.”
Just then, Finn arrived at the main lobby to find it empty. He walked up to the front desk and said, “Did
Mr. Jace leave?” The other lady at the front desk replied, “No, Sir. He just went up.”
