Sage and Laura, on the other hand, decided to go for some exercise. After all, a little physical activity
after a meal would help with digestion.
As dusk arrived, the setting sun painted the blue sky with a dash of brilliant orange. A sports car tore
down the street with both women inside with the speakers blaring. Laura swayed softly to the song. Her
eyes closed, and her hands outstretched to feel the wind coursing through her palms.
Kane, on the other hand, was in a blue sports car, driving just behind them. When Kane saw that slim,
outstretched hand, he felt a sudden rising urge. He could feel his body burning up.
Kane could only crank up the air conditioning.
Jace, on the other hand, was not doing much better when he saw the men who were cat calling Sage.
His hands unconsciously curled into a fist.
Laura, of course, noticed the blue car that was tailing them. “Why are they stalking us?” asked Laura.
Sage looked at the car in her side mirror and remained silent.
Sage knew that the car had been tailing them for quite some time. If Jace were the only one stalking
them, she would have lost him in an instance. However, Kane was also in the car, and she wanted to
give her brother a chance.
A chance to get together with Laura.
Laura, on the other hand, hated being stalked. The reason she entered the army was because her
family had always been overprotective of her. They were always worried that something would hurt her.
That is also why she was sent to learn martial arts to protect herself from imminent danger.
However, Laura’s family would never have guessed that because they sent Laura away to learn martial
arts, she also garnered enough courage to leave them and enter the army for her own freedom.
If Laura were the one driving, she would never have given Kane the chance to tail her.
‘However, Jace was also in that car. He deserves a chance,’ thought Laura to herself when she saw the
blue car tailing them.
Before Laura could say anything, Sage asked, “Shake them off our tail?”
Laura turned around, and after a moment of hesitation, she nodded. “Sure.”
Sage, without any hesitation, floored the pedal, and the car bolted off. The traffic lights turned red just
as Sage sped past the junction.
Kane did not expect Sage to speed up suddenly. He had no choice but to stop at the junction and wait
for the light to turn green.
Jace frowned as the car slowly disappeared in the upcoming traffic. “Yay!” exclaimed the girls as they
gave each other a high-five.
“Tsk!” exclaimed Kane in frustration as he slammed his fist on the steering wheel. Kane immediately
called Sage. “Hey, don’t drive too fast!! “I’m driving at a reasonable speed. We are going to a girly
place, so don’t follow us! Bye!’ replied Sage as she cut off the call. “Sage!!” bellowed Kane into the
phone, but the only reply he got was the dial tone. Kane turned toward Jace and asked, “What is a girly
place?”
