Jace fixed his gaze on Sage‘s face. He felt like the back of his hand was on fire and electri
fying. Meanwhile, the familiar voice on the phone said hello several times, but Jace did not answer. Sag
e reminded him, “Say something.” Then, Jace finally returned to his senses.
It was Wendy‘s voice on the phone. Jace greeted softly, “Aunt Wendy, it‘s me.” There was a short ‘ah‘ r
eply, and her voice stopped abruptly. After a silence of nearly ten seconds, Wendy suddenly replied wit
h a stern voice, “Who are you? Why are you impersonating Jace?!”
Her angry voice came through the phone. Jace held the phone further away because the volume
made his ears numb.
Sage could hear Aunt Wendy‘s loud and angry voice on the phone. She urged, “Give me the phone. I‘ll
speak to her.”
Jace gave the phone to her.
Sage said, “Aunt Wendy, it‘s me. Sage.” When Wendy heard Sage‘s voice, her shouting
ceased. Wendy‘s voice began to tremble. “S...Sage? Who was that? W...why did he sound so much lik

“Calm down. I‘ll explain.”
Sage glanced at Jace and gave a summary of the story. She reassured Wendy, “He‘s right here with m
e. We‘ll be at the old residence soon.” “Ah...” Aunt Wendy broke into tears after hearing Sage‘s explana
tion. Sage and Jace looked at each other and felt sorry. They had no idea how to comfort her. Soon, Fr
eya‘s indistinct voice came from the call, “What‘s wrong, Wendy? Why are you crying?
For some reason, Sage and Jace felt a little nervous hearing Freya‘s voice. Their hands trembled a littl

Wendy got so worked up from the news. They wondered how Freya would react. “Jace isn‘t dead! He‘s
back!” Wendy shouted at Freya with a trembling voice. Jace‘s body shook slightly. His hand was gettin
g colder and colder. Sage felt like she was holding an ice cube. Freya‘s voice took a long time to come
through the call. “Son?” The emotions in her voice were unreadable.
Jace hurriedly answered, “Mom, it‘s me! I‘m Jace!”
The other end of the call fell into a long silence until another voice said softly, “Say something.
It was Master Duncan.
When Jace heard his mother‘s voice, he choked with emotions. His eyes were red, and he was unable t

Jace‘s voice muffled, “Yeah. I‘m still alive! The king of hell doesn‘t want me dead yet and sent me back.”
The other end of the phone went silent for three seconds. Beep! The call disconnected.
Sage and Jace were both rendered speechless. They looked at each other as the call ended abruptly.
