Sage never felt so much jealousy in her life, thinking about her mother sleeping in,
brushing her teeth with her husband wrapping her arms around her, eating, and exercising all while she
hustled away in the office.
Being born into a family where the parents were truly in love was not necessarily all good, the children
suffered some degree of trauma watching their parents being overly lovey–dovey with each other, too.
Sage just finished a meeting and walked back to her office when she received a video from her mother.
Primrose baked cookies at home and made a mess in the kitchen.
Sage saw the video and felt her head thud as she sent an audio message to Primrose saying,” Missus
Norah, I‘d recommend you to stop wasting food since you‘re inept. If you are craving cookies, I‘ll make
some for you when I‘m home.”
Primrose replied with another video of Sawyer being fed the cookies aggressively and forced to
compliment how good they were. Sawyer had it pretty tough too, it seemed.
Sage felt pity for her father.
“Missus Norah, I completely understand the need to show off how in love you are with others to prove
something. But you should refrain from overdoing it and spare the poor man from food poisoning.”
Primrose replied with an eyes –rolling emoticon and followed by an audio message saying, ” You‘re just
jealous!!” The pair started spamming each other with Gifs and emoticons. Hunter followed closely
behind with his head down going through the meeting notes and did not notice someone in front of
them. When he finally realized and wanted to warn Sage but it was too late.
Sage walked her head right into Jace‘s chest. “...” Sage looked up and thought she just walked into a
pole. How can a human chest be so tough?! “Why are you just standing there?” Sage frowned as she
rubbed her forehead. “I stood here thinking you‘d notice me instead of walking right into me. I can‘t
believe you knocked right onto me.”
Sage smiled sarcastically and said, “Sorry, I don‘t have a third eye.” Jace laughed and asked, “Are you
hurt? Let me have a look.” “No.”
Sage slapped his hand away and asked, “Why are you here?”
Sage realized before Jace could answer. “Oh, the final draft of the interview is out?”
“Yes, I came to show it to you,” Jace said gently. “Come on in,” said Sage. Jace followed Sage into her
office while Hunter was stunned in place. Back then, it was hard for Jace to even walk past the door, he
could not believe how easy it was for Jace to get into Sage‘s office now. Love is a mystery. Hunter was
smart enough to stay outside of the office, he closed the door and commanded the assistants to not
disturb the pair. Sage walked into her office and changed into her slippers by habit and sat down on the
couch as she reached her hands out to Jace, “Let‘s have a look then.” Jace passed Sage the phone.
Sage took the phone and turned the screen around, “Please unlock it.” “Right.” Jace placed his thumb
on the screen to unlock it but failed. “What‘s going on?” Sage held his finger and pressed it onto the
screen, “Why isn‘t it unlocking?” “I forgot which finger I use, why don‘t you try all of them?”
Sage held onto Jace‘s hand as she froze in place and looked at him. His dark iris was like the night sky,
sparkled with stars.
