“Not yet.”
Kane said, “Go down and have your breakfast. I’ll wait for her.”
Then, he leaned over and tried to enter the room. Sage blocked him and said, “You should wait
outside. How can a man enter a girl’s bedroom?”.
Kane gave her a look. “It’s not like I’ve never been in your room before.”
“Nonsense. We’re siblings. Isn’t it different?”
“Cut the crap and let me in.”
“No!”
Sage blocked all his attempts to enter. Before Kane got mad, she said, “Unless…” “Okay. I’ll give you a
small tip.” Kane transferred Sage two hundred dollars without saying a word. Sage pouted. “Is that all?”
“You’re so stingy. Maybe you shouldn’t go in.”
–
She said so, but she still clicked and accepted the incoming transfer on her app.
Kane lowered his voice and warned, “There’s a transaction limit of two hundred dollars on the app!”
“But you can transfer by bank.” Kane swallowed his anger and directly transferred ten thousand dollars
to Sage. “Is this enough?” “Just barely.”
Sage reluctantly accepted it, but she still refused to move. She said without raising her head,” Kane,
I’m going to Yathein, but I didn’t prepare any gift for him. He has always liked that antique incense
burner of yours…”
Kane was about to get really mad. He lowered his voice and warned, “Sage, don’t go overboard! Know
when to stop!”.
“Well, let’s see how much Laura weighs in your heart. Is she less important than an antique incense
burner?”
Sage blinked innocently. It was a rare opportunity to take advantage of Kane. She must not miss it.
Kane raised his fist and clenched it slowly. He gritted his teeth and forced a smile. “Okay. I’ll give it to
you.”
“You’re the best!”
Sage was pleased. “Don’t do anything bad. You won’t get what you want in a hurry.” “I know already!”
W
Kane angrily pushed Sage out of the room and closed the door. Sage could not help but laugh. She did
not expect to see Kane like that one day. Sure enough, a hero’s biggest challenge was a beauty.
When she came downstairs, she saw Hunter and Leah already seated in the dining room. Hunter’s
back was facing Sage as he wiped the soup from the corner of Leah’s mouth with a napkin. Meanwhile,
Leah beamed happily. Geez. Everyone was so lovey-dovey early in the morning. It only made her
stand out more like a lonely person. She was all alone and single.
“Sage.” Leah saw Sage come downstairs and greeted her with all smiles, “Good morning.” “Morning.”
Hunter greeted Sage too, “How did you sleep? Did you get some rest?” Sage nodded. “Quite good.”
Breakfast had just begun when a loud thud came from upstairs. Everyone looked up. The room right
upstairs happened to be Sage’s room. “What’s going on?” Zamora heard the commotion and rushed
upstairs. “Is it a burglar or a rat?”
It was indeed a rat and a big one at that.
Sage did not stop Zamora. Instead, she muttered inaudibly, “I told you not to rush it. It’s not my fault if
you don’t listen to me.”
Zamora might be old, but she was quick on her feet. She ran upstairs, grabbed a large broom from the
storeroom, and rushed into Sage’s room at lightning speed.
“Little rat, you can’t hide-”
As the door opened, Zamora raised the broom and was ready to hit the rat. Instead, she saw Kane
lying on the carpet with Laura on top of him.
When the two heard the noises, they turned to the door in unison. Everyone was speechless.
