Yoel thought to himself, ‘I’m an idiot if I eat another pistachio in my life!’ Emily

nonchalantly peeled off the pistachio shell and chatted with Yoel. “Brother Rich, did I cause you a lot of

trouble because I like you?”

Yoel was so moved to hear that and almost cried. The child finally realized the trouble she had caused

him!

“Yes, that’s right, I feel very troubled.” Yoel was not afraid of hurting Emily’s feelings at all. He said to

her sternly, “Kid, you should focus on studying and improving yourself daily. Don’t think about falling in

love all the time. That’s for adults.” “Oh.” Emily lowered her head sullenly and retorted softly, “I’m good

at studying. Besides, many are pursuing me in school. However, my brother said they’re all unworthy

and told me to open my eyes to the world around me.” Yoel silently pressed his lips. Were all children

now so precocious?

She was so young. Why did she know so much?

“Yoel.” Emily raised her face and gazed at him with her clear eyes. “You can dislike me, but please

don’t hate me?” Yoel saw the hint of timidness in her clear eyes. He wanted to say that he did not hate

her, but in the end, all he said was a single word, “Okay.” At last, the little one smiled joyfully.

Jace felt like an eternity had passed while he waited outside. He was very nervous.

Recently, he took Freya to the hospital for a health examination. The doctor said that her leg was

injured badly, so it would be difficult for her legs to recover. He did not expect things to turn around, and

there was hope. Fortunately, they were blessed. After many years of desperation, they finally saw a

glimmer of hope again.

The door finally opened, and Sage came out of the room with a hopeful smile on her face. “Sage!” Jace

walked to her with a nervous look. “How is it? Can she recover?”

Sage answered with a faint hum. Her faint hum was very soft, but it gave Jace renewed hope and

confidence. He was overjoyed and hugged Sage in excitement. “That’s great! That’s great to hear!” It

was indeed great news, but why was he hugging her? Sage wrinkled her brows and pushed him away

gently.

“I’m sorry… I got too excited…” Jace looked a little shy, but mostly he was overwhelmed with joy.

Sage remained calm. It was her first time seeing him smile so happily after years of knowing him. It

was like he was relieved after finally lifting a burden off his chest.

A man in a suit and leather shoes walked down the corridor. Sage glanced over and saw Lucas

approaching them. A glimmer of hope flashed in his eyes as if he had overheard their conversation

earlier.

“Jace, your mom has hopes of recovery, right?” Jace could not hold his smile anymore. His face

instantly turned cold. He answered Lucas coldly, “That is none of your business.” Lucas pursed his lips.

“Freya’s injured leg has been a thorn in my heart. I feel very sorry for her. Hopefully, she can stand

again soon.” Sage listened to his seemingly emotional words and scoffed.
