face was dumbfounded.
Was it Sage’s birthday soon? Freya was greatly displeased looking at her son’s hazed expression. She
raised her thin and long brows and reprimanded her son, “Is this how you get her back? By forgetting
her birthday?”
Jace’s lips were tightly pursed together. She continued scolding him, “Men are all the same. If you love
her, you have to take action, not just say it with your mouth! You’ll never get her back in a thousand
years if you keep this up!”
Jace looked down and responded with a hoarse voice, “I know. I’ll prepare a birthday gift as soon as
possible.”
“I’ve already prepared it for you,” Freya signaled her staff to hand over a peony box. Jace took two
steps forward and received the box from his mother. He opened it and was instantly blinded by the
golden ray in the box. He could barely keep his eyes open.
There it was, a brooch the shape of a daisy, and the core was a cat’s eye emerald. It even shined ever
so brightly in its place. Jace’s pupils constricted as he looked up, “Mom, isn’t this your precious cat’s
eye brooch?”
A cat’s eye emerald was incredibly rare. It was as rare as a perfect emerald or ruby stone.
Freya stumbled upon it years ago, and she spent a great fortune bidding for it. She rarely wore it unless
it was for a special occasion. Yet this time, she was willingly giving it to her son. “It is precious, but it will
be more valuable if it can be used in dire situations. A cat’s eye signifies good luck. I hope it can bring
you luck, for you to bring Sage home again.” She was wheeled away once she was done scolding and
blessing her son in one go.
Jace felt complicated looking at his mum’s back and the brooch in the box. “Mother knows best they
say,” Grandpa said to Jace with a sigh, “The whole family is working hard for you to get your wife back.
You idiot, you better not disappoint us again.”
In the meantime, Yoel was chased out of Sage’s office. It started pouring rain, and the raindrops
dripped on Yoel’s face. He wiped them off and sighed. It looks like Project Ovaries should be done for
now. He was left with no choice but to betray his best friend Jace. He’s much more experienced than
Jace when it comes to pursuing girls, He thought to himself, ‘Jace, don’t blame me for chasing your ex-
wife. She’s just irresistible.’ Sage’s mood was wrecked because of Yoel. She would’ve killed him if not
for their ongoing turf club project. She couldn’t understand why. Why are all the men in the world so
obnoxious and self-righteous?
Will she ever meet someone normal? Sage really needed new friends.
Hunter entered her room after he knocked on the door, “Miss Sage, it’s pouring rain outside. Are you
still heading to Tasteful Restaurant tonight?”
