The last thing Sage expected was to see the so-called basketball star there in Tasteful Restaurant, let
alone being the apprentice of her apprentice.
Sometimes life is just funny that way.
“You’re Jimmy?” Sage remembered his friends calling him that.
The young man’s hand twitched, he looked up at Sage with his even redder cheeks and looked back
down immediately. “That’s right, my name is Jim Sylas.” “Jim Sylas.”
Sage mumbled that name again under her breath, she then looked at the young man and raised her
brow. “Who is Dean Sylas to you?”
“You know my brother?” Jim exclaimed, stunned. So they were brothers. “Who wouldn’t know him?
He’s a famous celebrity.” Sage did not further explain to him her relationship with Dean.
“Oh, right.” The young man responded as he scratched his head and smiled innocently. That smile was
pretty contagious. Sage said gently to him, “I’m making some meatballs. Your master is busy at the
moment, so you’ll be my sous-chef today.” “Roger that, Grandmaster!” Jim said enthusiastically. The
pretty senior of his had suddenly become his grandmaster! This all felt so surreal to Jim, it was as if he
was dreaming.
Preparing meatballs was not a dish that one could easily master. For the main ingredient, Sage picked
the freshest and highest quality pork shoulder and pork belly, as she had always been very particular
with the ingredients she used.
Sage cut the half thawed meat into 2cm wide slices and sliced them into strips, she then diced them
into tiny pieces and passed it to Jim. “Chop them up.”
Jim was completely amazed by Sage’s knife skills. He used to admire Myles’ impressive skills, never
would he expect that he would encounter an even more skillful master. Sage’s knife skill was sleek and
quick, the meat she cut was as beautiful and fine as a sculpture being presented
in the finest museum.
If Jim did not believe that the young and petite woman in front of him was a grandmaster before, he
definitely believes it now.
Sage did not have the habit of narrating when she teaches as she preferred a demonstrative method
instead. She tried her best to teach and showcase all of her skills without hiding any secret, but
whether or not one could learn and absorb all the skills was solely dependent on one’s skills.
However, Jim was a natural and a quick learner, he would always ask questions and practice
really hard. That was how he got to be the top student in school. Myles stood aside and smiled
satisfyingly upon observing how well the two people before him were getting along. Jim had already
passed the first stage when Sage decided she would teach him. What a lucky fella, being favored by
the master. After finishing making the meatballs, Sage ordered a few more of Sean’s favorite dishes.
The rustling sound of the crowd could be heard from outside the restaurant, some fans who managed
to recognize Suki and Dean were going after them for signatures and photos as they were entering the
restaurant. Jim peeked outside and immediately hid timidly behind Sage. “What’s going on?” Sage
asked. “Help, Sage! My brother doesn’t know that I’ve been working here, he would be really upset if
he finds out!” Jim said, doe-eyed whilst crouching behind Sage.
In a panicked phase, Jim called Sage by her first name instead of Grandmaster without even realizing
it.
Unsure if it was the doe eyes or the gentle and pitiful Sage Jim called out that hit a soft spot in Sage,
she decided to cover up for him. Sage walked out of the kitchen and guided Suki and Dean to their
private room.
Sage looked at Dean and realized that the Sylas brothers did not really resemble each other, both of
them had completely different personalities. Dean was cold and polished whilst Jim glowed like a ball of
sunshine. What an interesting change of pace.
