Sage’s eyes were locked on Wayne’s hands, and a wave of overwhelming emotions rushed over her.
She felt like she had traveled back in time to when she was still a kid. She used to sit on her grandpa’s
lap and fully focus on him while he carved under the dim yellow light. Grandpa would carve all sorts of
portraits, sceneries, flowers, ponds, and more on jade stones.
During that time, Sage used to think jade-carving was the most interesting thing in the whole world, and
her grandpa was the best Jade-Carving Master.
The old man’s palms were big, with thick layers of calluses, contrasting the tiny and delicate jade in his
palms.
Sage took the little portrait of her from Wayne’s hands, holding it tight in her own palms as the corner of
her lips lifted.
“Thanks, Grandpa.”
Wayne chuckled lightly and said, “You’re finally willing to smile for me.”
Sage held the jade portrait of hers in her palms as she turned it around and played with it. She
hummed mischievously, “You asked for it by running away from me and refusing to come inside.”
Wayne sighed and said, “I’m not used to living in such a luxurious house.”
“This is your house, grandpa. You can act and do whatever you like. You don’t have to feel restricted,”
said Sage.
Wayne shook his head and took a sip of the whiskey. “No, this is Sawyer and Prim’s house, it’s your
house. It’s not mine. My house is in Holly Springs, not Salem City. All my kids are grown up with their
own families and businesses now. I don’t mind living alone in that old house of mine.”
Sage looked at Wayne quietly and said, “It’s a good thing that your kids are successful. You raised
them well. You should be proud of it.
“Did I raise them well? How so?” Wayne laughed sarcastically.
“If I really did raise them well, your father wouldn’t rather cut ties with me to start his own business than
inherit my business. If I’m a good father, I wouldn’t have raised two animals that murder their own
sibling.”
Sage was stunned upon hearing what Wayne had just said about her father and uncles.
‘Grandpa… really was aware of all of that…’ Sage thought.
In the Skye Hotel Room Seventy Seven, Jace took a shower and came out of the washroom when he
overheard Yoel sitting before his computer screen saying, “Sage’s grandfather is such an impressive
man.”
Jace had his pajama on with a white towel hanging from his neck as he dried his hair. He walked
towards Yoel and looked at his computer screen. On it was information about Wayne Norah’s whole
life.
Jace’s lashes twitched when he found out Wayne’s identity 7
“I’ve heard that the Norah family used to collect antiques, the past three generations traded antiques
for a living. It only stopped until Sawyer Norah started his own jewelry business, and antiques became
a hobby instead of a business. But this old man, not only is he an antique collector, but he’s also the
Jade-Carving Master,” Yoel said.
Yoel turned around and looked at Jace. “Have you heard of this ‘Mister Wayne’ person?”
Jace responded calmly, “In the jade industry, even a three-year-old child knew that name.”
Yoel felt like he was being looked down on and muttered quietly, “Right, I’m the ignorant one.
Just like the Jade Master, Mister Wayne is a well-known name within the jade industry. Even though he
had retired, his name was still around and alive within the industry, but not many people have seen the
master himself.
A sudden thought occurred in Jace’s mind. ‘If I can’t get the ‘Jade Master’ to help me, I can perhaps try
to get ‘Mister Wayne’ to help.’
