Sage walked out of Dean’s ward and headed to the conference room to discuss about the
paralyzed patient’s case. As she walked out of the door, Jace stood frozen at the same location.
He looked like he had just taken a beating. Who wronged him?
Sage glanced at him and looked away immediately. She did not want to care for him, so she headed
her way.
“Doctor S.”
He called her with a low and hoarse voice. He was even trembling a little as he spoke.
Sage stopped walking. Oh, yes, she accidentally leaked her identity to him when she came here.
Footsteps were heard behind her, and Jace walked slowly towards Sage and stood in front of her. His
red eyes were staring intently at her.
Jace looked ill. He slowly opened his mouth and his voice asked dryly, “When were you planning to tell
me the truth?” Sage looked up at him, expressionless.
They were standing too close together. Sage was not used to it, so she took a step back to maintain a
certain distance between them. Just like he did all those years to her.
Jace looked at her as she dodged and rejected him, his eyes darkened again from that action. He
dreadfully forced a mockery smile, “You keep playing with my feelings, over and over again. Do you
think this is some kind of joke? Is this you seeking vengeance?”
When he said those words, he trembled as if someone had just cheated on him.
Sage remained calm, scarily calm. She smiled and asked, “Vengeance is for those who wronged me.
Mister Yuriel, do you think you’ve wronged me?”
Jace’s pupils constricted. He didn’t know what to say.
Why did she question him back? He’s the one questioning her now!
Sage smiled, “Vengeance grows from the feeling of hatred. I don’t hate you, Mister Yuriel. How could I
seek vengeance toward you? I’ve kept my distance since the divorce. It was you who keeps coming
back to me. It’s not my fault you were blinded!”
Jace’s lips pursed into a thin line and he gritted his teeth loudly. He should have learnt by now that she
had a sharp tongue, and she always stabbed him with every oppurtunity she had.
After a long pause, Jace’s anger vanished and he turned soft, “Doctor S, three years ago you saved my
life. I’ve completely recovered from being a paralyzed patient. This was all you, and I’m deeply grateful
for your help. I have to repay your kindness.”
Sage was stunned for a moment. She was not used to hearing him talk this normally. “Don’t mention.
It’s my duty,” she responded lightly.
Jace chuckled, “I saved a girl ten years ago. She said she was going to repay me, but I said the same
thing to her. She ended up coming to save me when I needed her the most. Sage, you’ve repaid me.
It’s my turn now.”
“No. Thanks.”
Jace smirked and said, “Goodbye, Doctor S.” Sage was left astounded
