Jace frequently drove Sage around and somewhat became her driver. However, he
enjoyed it.
The two did not speak to each other, so it was very quiet in the car. Jace got a few big boxes out of
nowhere and piled all of them on the back seat. Sage had to sit in the front passenger seat because
there was nowhere else to sit. She understood his trick, but she simply ignored it and played on her
phone instead. A sudden cough broke the long silence. Jace asked, “What do you think of the project?”
He was trying to start a conversation. Sage curved her finger and continued tapping on the screen.
While she replied to Hunter’s several text messages, she answered Jace dully, “It’s not bad. You will
profit in both reputation and money, killing two birds with one stone. Mister Jace, you made a good
move.” Her comment was pertinent and neutral, but it sounded rather perfunctory and polite. Jace then
asked, “How do you know that Mister Norah signed this contract for you?” Sage frowned, looking at the
message from Hunter. Jace’s question was nosy and made her more frustrated. She said coldly, “Do
you even have to ask? Isn’t that obvious? If it’s not for me, is it for you?”. Her earlier feedback was
considered polite, but her second reply was plain rude. Sage had no intention to continue chatting with
Jace. Instead, she dialed Hunter’s number and yelled at him as soon as the call connected. “You made
Leah angry. Why aren’t you talking to her immediately? Instead, you’re texting me
“You don’t know why she’s angry? Is your brain even working? Don’t you know when to ask? Are you a
pig? Ask her why!” Jace’s hand on the steering wheel trembled. Sage was not done scolding Hunter.
Her face turned appallingly icy. The air around her was so cold that she could freeze the car.
Then, Sage sneered, “Don’t you know already? Why are you pretending in front of me? Men are all the
same. You used your EQ to play the fool. You haven’t even earned enough to marry, and you are losing
her. Amazing.” Jace remained silent. For some reason, he felt like she was implying something to him.
Sage was angry at first, then her face suddenly sank. She said coldly, “As for the Jefferson Group, just
do whatever you can. Otherwise, get someone else to replace you! Don’t use your work as an excuse!
Are you so busy that you can’t talk to your girlfriend? Weren’t you racing against time and very hard
working when you were pursuing her? Now, you’re saying that you have no time to spare? That only
shows that you’re not capable enough!”
Finally, she left with a warning. “Hunter, listen. You’re not the only one that can be Leah’s boyfriend. If
you can’t make her happy, you better leave! When I return, I’ll get Leah a better and more obedient
boyfriend!” At last, she hung up the call. However, her anger did not fade. Jace drove steadily. After a
short moment, he asked, “Is Hunter dating your sister?” “He’s almost out of the game.”
Sage said with a cold face, “What’s the point of keeping a man that constantly makes a woman angry?
There’s no reason to keep them, so it’s better to discard them as soon as possible.” Jace nodded,
“You’re right. How about I introduce Zayne to your sister?” The sudden proposal startled Sage. She
turned her head slowly and looked at Jace. Thinking of Zayne’s face, Sage frowned and asked, “Are
you crazy?” Jace was confused. “My assistant Hunter may be terrible and foolish, but he’s more
handsome than your assistant, Zayne, okay? What are you thinking? Jace pressed his lips and fell
silent. He dared not to make a squeak.
Assistant Zayne was temporarily calling the shots since his boss was away. He sat in Jace’s office
chair, approving the documents like a king. Just as he arrogantly thought he was the highest in ranking,
he made a loud sneeze. “Ah Choo!” Zayne rubbed his nose and muttered, “Someone must be talking
about me behind my back…”
