Kane was unfazed as he replied, “Don’t worry, there will be plenty of chances for me to do something
about it.” Once again, Laura felt hooked like a fish that bit the bait. She felt helpless, like a death row
inmate waiting for the guillotine to drop.
Sage noticed that Laura was about to explode. She immediately stepped in and said, “Don’t get too
worked up. Your waist is still healing.”
Her words immediately caused Laura to calm down, and she mustered up her biggest smile.” Haha!
What brings you here?”
Kane could not believe what he was seeing.
Laura even patted the seat beside her, indicating for Kane to sit beside her. “Sage’s brother is also my
brother. Come, sit!”
Kane sat beside her but still could not believe she would turn her altitude around quickly. He asked,
“Are you sure you are not an actor?” “You know what, I did! I went to an acting school for a few years,”
replied Laura.

Kane was once again rendered speechless. “Okay.”. Kane, of course, knew that she was lying. After
all, he had already conducted an in-depth investigation on Laura, and he knew her history. Moreover,
even if Kane had not investigated her, everybody knew of the Lane family.
Sage could not help but laugh at Laura and her words. Jace walked up to Sage and asked, “Could you
move over?”

Sage slowly raised her head and frowned. Her actions distanced herself from Jace, clearly indicating
that she did not know the man standing before her.
The waiter walked over and asked, “Sir, I can add an extra seat.”
Jace looked at Sage, the latter clearly not moving.
He pursed his lips and said, “There’s no need for that.”
Jace bent over and cradled Sage in his arms and carefully placed her on the seat beside him.
Sage was shocked by Jace’s actions. Kane and Laura were also surprised.
Before anybody could react, Jace already sat down and told the waiter to add two more sets of cutlery.
“Okay, sir,” replied the Waiter. Sage could not help but feel that Jace was not the Jace she once knew.
Sage turned towards Kane and asked, “Why are you here?” Kane was not going to tell her that they
were following them. “It’s a coincidence.”
Jace nodded and added, “Purely coincidental.”
Both Laura and Sage did not believe them in the slightest.
