Sage was already a grown-up, but she was forced to stay in the ward. She felt embarrassed about it,

but the loss of freedom felt worse.

She was not in a good mood and was grumpy about it. Jace’s arrival only made her grumpier.

Jace had learned a new trick from god-knows-where and started coming to the health center to visit her

daily. Unfortunately, she was stuck in the ward, so she had no choice but to have him stay.

What made her even troubled was the fact that the Yuriel’s family took the blame for her near accident

at the club. They blamed Jace for not keeping her safe. Therefore, they ordered Jace to take care of

her and make it up for her.

Grandma Yuriel even came to visit her in person. She held her hand and said with a smile,” Sage, tell

Jace if you want to eat something. He’ll buy it for you. It’s his duty to take care of you. Just treat him

like a slave, anything will do.”

Sage could not refuse the elder’s kindness. So she awkwardly nodded along and laughed.

As for Freya, it was needless to say anything to be honest. Freya stayed in the health center for her

treatment too, so she summoned Jace to bring her food daily. She also told him to prepare Sage’s

portion as well. She had all her plans for Jace and Sage set in motion.

Jace carried the lunch box and brought a small square box too. He ignored Sage’s impatient face and

came in anyways. He even spoke with a smile, “We have your favorite today, spare ribs.”

Sage cast a light glance at him. “Mister Jace, aren’t you busy? How can you visit me daily? Don’t you

have work to do? Why are you working as a delivery boy now?”

Her sarcastic tone amused Jace. He put the lunchbox aside and explained, “I came from the Yuriel

Treasure Museum today.”

Sage looked nervous upon hearing that. “Grandpa doesn’t know about my hospitalization, does he?”

Jace looked at her. “You didn’t want me to tell him, so I kept quiet about it.”

Sage breathed a sigh of relief. “That’s good to hear.”

Her grandfather was old and busy with work at the moment. She did not want him to worry and be

anxious about her health.

“However, he did ask about you. He was asking about what you were up to lately. You haven’t been

visiting him.”

Jace served the food on the table one by one.

Sage looked at him nervously. “And how did you answer?”

“I said you sprained your foot, so you haven’t been able to walk around much. Dr. Samuel even

ordered you to stay in the ward, so that was why you weren’t able to visit him.” Jace said with a straight

face.

Jace gave only vague answers to Wayne. After all, Sage did indeed sprain her back and was in

confinement. It was not really a lie nor a truth.

Jace took out his phone and suggested, “But I think you should give him a call.”

Sage grabbed Jace’s phone and thought for a moment. Then, she called Wayne.

She was afraid that Wayne would sense something, so she had not called him. The call connected

quickly. She hurriedly repeated what Jace had just said. Hearing that, Wayne muttered a few words

and gave her a short lecture. However, he did not sound very worried. When he learned about her

confinement, he laughed at her misery.” Serves you right. You’ll learn your lesson.”

Sage was speechless. Wayne was indeed her dearest grandfather. After hanging up, she returned the

phone to Jace. She even thanked him faintly, “Thanks.” “You’re welcome.” Jace held the phone, feeling

her lingering warmth on the phone, he tightened his grip.

A wide variety of food was served on the small table. They looked very delicious. The aroma caused

her to salivate. Sage picked up the cutlery and ate them.

There was a cook who cooked very well in the Yuriel family. Sage had a small appetite, but every time

she came to the Yuriel family’s old residence, she could eat a lot more. She had been eating a lot more

for the past few days.

Jace loved to watch Sage eat. People were always genuine and lovely when it came to food. Sage

grew up with a good upbringing. She always ate her food with good manners. She ate in small bites

and chewed softly without showing her teeth. However, she was not a slow eater at all. Soon, she

finished half the meal of the table with a soft luster on her lips.

Jace quietly watched her eat and chuckled.

Sage looked up and saw him staring at her with his dorky smile and she could not help but roll her

eyes.
