She gave Nigel an understanding look and carried Puffy upstairs. Nigel blushed. He watched as Sage

went upstairs, then turned to Sean and bickered, “Sage is still around. Be mindful of your words…”

The night passed silently. Sage got up and freshened up herself. Then, she walked downstairs with

careful steps. She did not want to wake Nigel and Sean up and thought of making breakfast for them.

She was surprised to hear some noises in the kitchen as soon as she went downstairs. Sean was

already up and was frying some eggs.

Sean heard the movement behind him and turned slightly. “You’re up so early?”

“Yeah. Good morning.”

Sage greeted him and strode into the kitchen.

Sage had only seen Sean in the image of a lawyer in a suit. It was the first time seeing him in home

clothes and an apron. Sean did not wear his glasses either. He looked very gentle in his homely

appearance. He skillfully put the fried eggs on the plate and asked Sage, “Did you sleep well last

night?” Sage nodded and said, “Yup. I slept soundly.” Seeing her in good spirits, it seemed like she had

slept well. Sean smiled softly and said, “It seems like the renovation is worth it.”

Sage was lost for words. She understood the implied meaning and blushed. Then, she hurriedly

changed the subject, “Is Nigel still sleeping?”

Sean glanced up at the clock.

Ding!

The toaster made a sound. Then, he said, “He’s coming down soon.”

As soon as he said that, Nigel appeared in his messy bed hair. He yawned as he came downstairs. The

buttons on his pajamas were all messed up, exposing much of his neck.

Sage sighed in her heart. Indeed, the soundproofing in the house was great.

During breakfast, she asked Sean seriously, “Sean, can you recommend the one who did your home

renovation? I should install the soundproofing wall in my rose garden too.”

Sean replied calmly, “Okay.”

Nigel looked up in confusion. Somehow, he felt like Sage was trying to imply something.

He did not probe into it and thoughtlessly said, “Didn’t mother disallow you to install the soundproof

walls in the rose garden? Be a good girl and listen to her.”

Then, he handed the spread slice of bread to Sage. “Everyone is always worried about you, so

be careful.” She failed to request the soundproof wall and received a lecture instead. Sage groaned.

She munched on the bed and muttered, “Why didn’t Mom give birth to a younger sibling for me?” Sage

was the youngest, so her five elder brothers had always bullied her. Nigel laughed at her pettiness and

childishness. Sage never showed this side to others, except for the closest people. He was used to it

and willing to pamper her. He raised his hand and rubbed her head. As a result, Sage looked at him

with eyes of resentment.

“You still have butter on your hand… Don’t touch my hair! Sean, stop him!”

After a fun morning, it was time for work. Sage went to the hospital with Nigel to check on Asher’s

condition first.

Sean’s law firm was not far from Goodcare hospital. Therefore, he did not let Nigel drive and took them

for a ride.

Halfway through the journey, Nigel received a call from the hospital. His face changed at once. “…

What? He just had his surgery. Why is the patient throwing tantrums? Okay, I see. We’re arriving soon.

Stabilize him first. If that doesn’t work, sedate him.”

After Nigel hung up, Sage asked, “What’s the matter?”

Nigel’s face turned dark. “Asher caused trouble early in the morning. He threw a tantrum, and Lulu was

injured.”

Hearing that, Sage immediately recalled how Jace reacted after the surgery. Her face turned dark too.
