Seeing how Sage had stopped in her tracks, Yoel thought that Sage had finally wavered. He ran up to
Sage gleefully to find that she had a dark expression on her face.
“Are you out of your mind?!”
As if he was hit in the back of the head, Yoel looked puzzled. “Huh?”
Looking at Yoel with a look of disdain, Sage added, “How childish can you be for a grown-up? Do you
think you’re still in high school? Plus, why would I agree to be in a relationship with a playboy like you
for the sake of making Jaçe angry? Do I look like I have a lot of free time on my hands? If you’re
looking to play around, I believe there are plenty of girls out there who are willing to d o so. But I don’t
have the time, and neither do I wish to be involved with your silly games. Do you understand me?”
Sage gave Yoel an earful without mercy, and Yoel took everything silently, like a high schooler being
lectured by his teacher.
By the time Sage was done, Yoel was already shuddering with fear. Facing Sage, he bowed politely
and said, “Yes ma’am.” Yoel’s polite behavior nearly made Sage’s assistants and bodyguards burst into
laughter.
Sage, on the other hand, was kind enough to spare Yoel.
Stealthily, Yoel sent a text message to Jace. [I was bullied by your ex-wife!]
Jace: [?]
Yoel: (I wanted to annoy you by asking her to be my girlfriend but she said that I was being childish and
told me off!)
Jace: [..]
Yoel: [It’s been a really long time since I’ve met someone who is this upright and quite a personality. I
think I like her even more now! I have decided to officially pursue her!
Staring at the message on the screen, Jace’s eyes darkened. He felt a flicker of irritation.
Putting away his phone, Jace looked out through the car window as he recalled his conversation with
Finn.
If what Finn had said was true, Sage’s parents had passed away during their visit to Nadeem City, and
not long after that, Sage had shown up in front of him and had married him.
Could he truly be the person that Sage had harbored feelings for for almost ten years?
However, he could not recall meeting her ten years ago.
Ten years ago…
Closing his eyes, Jace tried to remember the events of that time, but he could not remember anything
noteworthy.
Opening his eyes, he said, “Zayne, I want you to look into the incident involving Sage’s parents, and
draw up a list of everything I had done ten years ago. I want to look through them.”
“Yes, Sir.”
Zayne then asked, “Sir, are you returning to Nadeem City? Are we not staying here for a few more
days?”
“We’re not staying. Let’s head back now.”
Jace felt restless. Since he could not get anything from Sage, he could only look for answers on his
own.
As for the horseracing business, it was already clear that Sage had no intentions of working with him.
There was no reason for him to throw himself at her.
Feeling bitter, he shook his head as he thought to himself that this was the first time he had
experienced being rejected this coldly.
Sage and Yoel had taken a look around the racing course and were feeling satisfied.
“If nothing goes wrong, I suppose the construction will be done by the end of this month. I can also start
importing horses, and when the time comes, I’ll choose and keep one of the horses for you.”
They were resting at the nearby pavilion. Yoel took a bottle of water from one of the assistants and
passed it to Sage. Taking the bottle, Sage replied, “Sure, thank you.”
