Sitting in front of her office desk, Sage looked up to see a man, tall with broad shoulders, walking into
the room, dressed in a suit and tie. He was exuding a charismatic and imposing vibe.
This was the first time that they were meeting for business in such a formal setting. It was new…yet
strange.
*Please, have a seat.” Getting up onto her feet, Sage gestured to Jace.
Sage was in the same red suit that she was in earlier today. She did not change anything just for him
but somehow, there was something different about her.
This was the second time that Jace was in her office. The last time they met, things did not end well
between them and he did not get the chance to take a careful look at her office.
The style of her office was somewhat different from her previous style. Rather than a warm tone, the
office had a Victorian style, and it was actually rather similar to the style of his office.
After taking a look around, a painting on the wall captured his attention. It was a painting of scenery
that had a verse of a poem written next to it.
Heed not to the tree-rustling and leaf-lashing rain’
Why not stroll along, whistle, and sing under its rein.
Lighter and better suited than horses are straw sandals and a bamboo staff,
Who’s afraid?
A palm-leaf plaited cape provides enough for misty weather to sustain life.’
It was a verse from the poem titled Lyrics to the Melody of a Pacified Storm by Sir Dunford.
Both the painting and calligraphy were stunning.
With his gaze fixed on the art, Jace said, “This painting…”
Sage replied, “It’s a fake.”
Tuming around to look at her, Jace replied, “I know. But the skills are exceptional. Who is the master
behind this painting?”
“You can have it if you like,” replied Sage as she poured Jace a cup of tea.
Slightly startled, Jace’s eyes lit up. “You’re giving it to me?”
Sage glanced at him. “Bring me the set of porcelain plates and we’ll exchange them.”
Indeed, Jace did not think that Sage would be so generous.
Jace smiled helplessly. “I didn’t know that you were also interested in antiques. I only knew that you’re
quite the insider at the auction.”
But she had lost the porcelain plates to him.
Sage felt a pinch of regret at the thought of the porcelain plates that she did not get her hands on.
Both of them started discussing the racecourse project. Sage showed the pictures that she had taken
the last time she visited the racecourse with Yoel and shared her opinions with him.
Before the meeting with Sage, Jace had done some studying and regarding Sage’s opinion, he too
shared a few of his opinions.
At first, Sage was worried that Jace would intentionally cater to her opinions and ideas as he wanted to
secure the collaboration with her on the project.
Sage was surprised that Jace did have his own view regarding the project, and he had even suggested
several ideas and pointed out things that both Yoel and her had never thought about.
Jace, on the other hand, was sincere about the collaboration and listed out the advantages the Yuriel
Group would be able to offer if he was on board for the project.
“We’ve dealt with projects in building funfairs including the basic facilities, and everything is ready-to-go
once the contract is signed.”
Listening carefully, Sage took a sip of tea and nodded her head softly. “I can see that you’re sincere
and committed to this project, and I must say that I’m pleased. You can go ahead and tell me your
conditions.”
Jace froze slightly. She had been calm and collected since the beginning. Jace thought that she was
simply indifferent, when in fact she was waiting for him to reveal his true intentions.***
Jace understood that there was no need to beat around the bushes with Sage.
Jace said bluntly, “I hope that you can hand over the hotel project at the racecourse to us.”
Tugging at the corners of her lips, Sage said, “I do realize that you’ve been working on establishing
resorts with a hot spring
it because of the huge am been rejecting your idea. You had your eyes on this racecourse project,
willingly joined us even though you have the least amount o f shares, simply because you wanted to
achieve your goal rather than to please me, right?” e Jace was flustered by how Sage spoke of his
ambitions and hidden intentions so nonchalantly suerte
With a calm expression on his face, he replied, “Miss Sage, I too am someone who draws a clear line
between my work and personal life. I wouldn’t have used this business collaboration to please anyone.
We’re simply helping each other out, it’s a win-win situation, don’t you agree?”
He then added, “Even though our establishment on hot spring resorts is not conclusive yet, you know
better about the reputation of Yuriel Group. I trust that it’ll only benefit the racecourse project with us on
board.”
Sage smiled faintly. “You misunderstood what I meant, Mister Jace. If you really want to please me, it’ll
only burden me. I believe that you’d be able to establish the concept of a hot spring resort as one of the
most luxurious hotel concepts.”
Handing over the drafted contract to Jace and passing him a pen, she said, “I hope you realize your
dream soon. Here’s to happy cooperation.” Looking at the polite smile on her face, Jace felt his
stomach drop.
