Leah could only understand half of what Sage truly meant, yet, it was enough for her. At last, she

nodded hesitantly. However, there was one thing that she understood well. She must try to make

herself stronger and better!

Now that Hunter was here, he had to get to work. It was important to focus on the tasks that were

assigned so Hunter and Sage took no breaks. Hunter immediately reported on the current progress of

the Jefferson Group. “I don’t want to hear the process. Just tell me the results.”

Sage sat on the hospital bed and pulled a small table over. She reviewed the documents and

paperwork carefully and checked for errors. When she was done with the review, she signed her name

in the lower right corner. Soon, the documents stacked on the bed. She told Louis to take care of them

as soon as possible while multitasking and listening to Hunter’s report.

Hunter was a strong willed person. He would not easily let go of the Jefferson Group.

“Jefferson Group’s stock has fallen to an all-time low. I recently incorporated a new company and

purchased a large amount of their stock. The recent outlook in the property development sector hasn’t

been good for Jefferson Group’s growth. Wilson always wanted to bring his business overseas, so he

let Julian handle this. However, Julian privately invested the fund in the film and entertainment

industry.”

Hunter sneered, “This may be new to you. Julian is very close to Starship Entertainment’s heir,

Kendrick Lowe. They managed to make a lot of money at first, so Wilson turned a blind

eye to it. However, Starship Entertainment soon collapsed.”

“Even so, Julian unwilling gave up and kept pouring money to invest in the film and entertainment

industry. The companies he invested in used artists with bad track records and untalented artists with

nothing but exposure. Most of his investments failed. None of the movies were allowed to be aired. The

money he put in was lost. As a result, their overseas business plans have failed, and the Jefferson

Group got into deep trouble for it.”

Sage listened to Hunter’s report impassively. None of this was a surprise to her. She looked up at

Hunter. “I thought I asked for only the results. Why did you talk so much?” Hunter giggled, “Well, I

thought you were in a bad mood. I wanted to cheer you up with a little gossip.”

As soon as he said that, Sage took an apple from the fruit bowl and threw it at him.

Hunter caught the apple in his hand and giggled playfully. “Thanks, Miss Sage,” he spoke and took a

bite of the apple.

Sage could not be bothered with his attitude. “Is there anything else?”

After staying in the ward for almost three days, she was ready to get back into the zone. She felt

annoyed. She could not understand how people could stay confined for so long. Were there many days

more to come?

Hunter continued, “Missus Jefferson allowed her younger brother to be a loan shark. His brother

accidentally killed a man when he failed to collect the debt. As a result, he went to jail and dragged

Missus Jefferson into the mess, which she might be liable and charged for it.”

“Queenie saw how unreliable Julian was and did not want to count on him anymore. for you lately. He

wanted to go to Rosa Garden to see Yeva, but Mister Wando unleashed a dog and he got bit…”

“That’s about it. There’s nothing new anymore.” Sage listened, feeling disinterested and bored.

Hunter added, “Oh, I almost forgot. There’s one more thing.”

“What?”

Hunter looked at Sage and showed a toothy smile. “You were confined in your ward.”

Sage was left speechless. She picked up a pen from the table and threw it at him. She glowered at

him, “B*stard! How dare you make fun of me!”

Hunter dodged towards the door. Coincidentally, someone happened to open the door from the outside.

It was Jace. The pen hit him right in the head, and he caught it in his hand.

Sage’s face sank when she saw the uninvited guest. She looked at him and impatiently asked,” Why

are you here?”
