“What do you want from me, Jace?” Sage got all the staff out from backstage and started leveraging
with Jace as soon as they got in. She took out her phone and showed him all the messages sent in by
his family members and said, “Isn’t it enough that you’re here to keep me on my toes? Must you involve
everyone else in your family?” Jace looked up at her and said calmly, “I have no means to keep you on
your toes, or to disturb you… I just want to help you…” “Help? So now you think I need help?” Sage
scoffed and said, “Mr. Yuriel, maybe I wasn’t clear earlier when I said it, and you misunderstood. Allow
me to say it one last time, we are never getting back together.” Jace had an indescribable expression
on his face, “This is not entirely up to you.” Sage felt anger fumed up her chest. Not up to her? Up to
who then? Jace looked at Sage’s cold yes, and calmly said, “Sage, I was wrong for treating you the
way I did for the past three years. I deserve all the hate and blame, I do. I also understand you wouldn’t
forgive me easily. I just wish for a chance for me to take care of you like you did all those years.” “I’ve
said it, I don’t need your care!” Sage disrupted him abruptly with an icy tone, “Jace, even the strongest
love expires. My love for you has expired a long time ago.” Jace felt a lump in his throat. His heart felt a
huge void. “Impossible,” said Jace. “Nothing is impossible. I’m tired and sick of this, don’t you get it?”
said Sage.
Jace looked at her in silence. His eyes were hollow. Sage didn’t realize how sad Jace looked. Or rather,
she doesn’t care anymore. Ever since the divorce, Sage stopped reading into his expressions as she
did when they were married.
“The only reason I’m here in Salem City is to save my parents’ company, and not let it ruin in my
hands,” Sage said in a calm voice. “I know,” Jace said as he added, “I can help you and protect you
from whatever windstorms or disaster that might happen,” Sage smirked and said in a mocking tone,
“Jace, I’ll be frank with you. My whole life has been smooth sailing with my parent’s love and brothers
pampering me. They have never let me down. I wasn’t even too affected by my kidnapping and I
almost died that time. The biggest windstorm of my life was meeting you.” Jace walked out of Norah
Jewelry with a heavy heart and even heavier footsteps, frozen like a robot out of battery.
There were no stars in the skies tonight. The entire world darkened.
Zayne followed behind his boss, worrying about his mental state. He rarely saw Jace in such a
sorrowful mood. Jace was always full of confidence and optimism. He wasn’t even this sad when he
broke up with Sienna at their wedding. Jace’s phone rang. It was from Yoel.
