“I brought you your porcelain plates.” Jace fulfilled his end of the promise and pass the plates to Sage.
Sage gleefully accepted the plates. She opened up the box, and carefully wiped her hands with wet
wipes. She then daintily picked up a plate in her hands and observed it.
You could tell if someone is truly passionate about antiquing by looking at their gesticulations.
Under the warm lights, Jace asked Sage gently, “You like it that much?”
Sage answered, “Obviously,” without looking up,
Sage tried to keep her excitement down about these little porcelain plates back then at the auction. She
wanted to bring these plates home so badly. Never did she know Jace was going to bid the plates too.
She knew Jace was an obsessed antiquer. Wealthy people loved collecting antiques, which was
commonly known. But she didn’t know he was such an avid antiquer,
She also knew if they bid against each other, they would ruin the market rate for these plates and the
media will surely make a big hoo-ha about their competition.
She can’t risk spoiling the market rate,
Finally, these plates are back in her hands. Her eyes were filled with the sight of the plates, from the
pattern to the color; from the top to bottom, she wanted to take it all in,
Jace looked at Sage as she took a sniff at the plates, she resembled a Bichon Frise puppy, Jace
laughed out loud.
Sage felt unfazed at Jace’s mockery. This was common practice for an avid antiquer like her. She
carefully placed the plates back i n the box and said, “Thank you for your generosity, Mr. Yuriel.”
As Jace was about to say that she was welcome, Sage took the cheque out from her bag and placed it
in front of him, and said, * Please take this five million dollars.”
It reminded Jace of the time he passed her a cheque when they were getting divorced.
He finally felt what she felt at that time. It was hurtful and offensive,
Jace’s smile disappeared and he looked down.
He pushed the cheque back towards her and said, “This is a gift for you, Miss Norah. Don’t mention it.
Take it as a gift from me. We will be seeing each other more often in the future,” said Jace.
She knew he was going to say that.
Sage came prepared and she didn’t insist further. She took out another item, “If that’s the case, please
accept this in retum,” she said.
She was not going to owe him anything,
Jace took over the gift. It was cylindrical. He opened it up and saw the painting from her offices, it was
the “Still Forest” by Sir Dunford.
“You’re willing to part with this?”
Jace had a collection of many artworks. Although this was a replica, it was still of the highest grade. It
could be sold for tens of millions at an auction and passed as a real one.
“It’s just a painting and it doesn’t mean much to me. Hope you’ll accept it.” Jade said casually
She sounded casual as though she was the painter of this piece…Jace suddenly rubbed his eyes as a
question popped up in his mind.
Jace asked dryly. “Did you paint this?”
