With no intentions of backing down, Leah stared right back into Zane’s eyes.
In a sarcastic tone, Sage said, “Uncle Zane, didn’t you always say that girls are nothing but a waste of
money? Since you have yourself a precious son, why do you still care about what Leah does? You
should have done your job as a father back then. Look at you now? And you dare to say that you’re her
father? Think about it, Uncle Zane, do you even have the right to be her father?”
Zane was quivering in anger. He was sure that Leah and Sage had teamed up to purposely go against
him.
Braxton stood by and watched the show’ reach its climax. At the sight of his brother who was wordless
with rage, he suddenly found the entire situation hilarious.
Braxton thought that Zane was finally being hit by karma and this was what he got for showing off his
new girlfriends to him back then.
If you play with fire, you will eventually get burned. “Braxton, did you hear those brats? Are they
supposed to be talking to me this way? Our kids are getting ruder by day,” seethed Zane. Because he
knew that he did not stand a chance of winning the argument with the girls, Zane could only suppress
them with his authority as their elderly.
Yeva who was being dragged into the situation was triggered. “Uncle Zane, why are you dragging me
into this when I didn’t utter a single word. Leave me out of this.” Zane shot a glare at Yeva. “Alright,
alright.” Braxton tried to smooth things over. “What’s with all the fuss? We are a family after all, why
can’t we just sit down and talk things over?”
Braxton sat Zane down on a chair and Zane tried to recollect himself.
Taking a sip of water, Zane pointed at Leah and said, “You, pack your stuff and come home with me.
Quit your job at Norah Group and I’ll find you a new one. Also, make sure to ask for your stepmom’s
forgiveness.” “No!” Leah rejected him without any hesitation. Leah knew well enough that Gwyneth
would not let her off the hook if she went home this time. Gwyneth might even kill her.
Slamming the table, Zane bellowed, “Don’t you dare to say ‘no’ to me again! Do you want me to break
that leg of yours?!”
“I said I’m not going back with you! That place is not even my home anymore, why should I go back?
You can live happily with that wife and son of yours. I am never going back!” “You brat! You are really
losing it, aren’t you?!”
Zane was now running on sheer anger. Getting up onto his feet, he charged toward Leah. Leah, on the
other hand, quickly hid behind Sage. “Sage…” Standing in front of Leah, Sage blocked Zane’s hand
from reaching Leah.
“Uncle Zane, Leah is already an adult and you don’t have to take care of her anymore. Let her stay with
me and I’ll be her guardian from now onwards.”
“You must be joking…” Zane tried to reach for Leah but Sage slowly tightened her grip around Zane’s
wrist until he started shrieking in pain. Zane felt as if his wrist was dislocated. Looking at Zane with a
straight face and cold gaze, Sage uttered word by word, “Uncle Zane, I am not joking with you.” Zane
was wordless with pain.
Braxton and Leah were both dumbfounded by what they just witnessed.
Right when Zane was about to pass out from being in too much pain, Sage let go of her grip around his
wrist, smiled, and said, “It’s decided then.”
