“Huh?”
Everyone was shocked.
Laura almost choked and hurriedly rephrased her sentence, “No, it’s a change of heart! Now, I don’t hit
people as much.”
Sage chuckled, “You don’t fight ordinary people, do you? Brothers, be careful. Laura works for the
special force. She’s a female machine gunner and one of the people who rescued me in the jungle
operation.”
Laura was a female machine gunner in the special force and saved Sage’s life before! When Sage
mentioned these points, it was awe-inspiring and immediately captured all their hearts. “Laura, right?
Come and have a seat. Don’t just stand there.”
Nigel was the first to send a friendly signal. Kane hissed, “Are you worthy enough to call her Laura?”
Nigel was confused. “Huh? What else can I call her?”
He observed the look on Kane’s face and tried seriously, “Should I call her Tyrant? Or, how about
calling her just Mrs. Hudson?”
Seth smiled warmly. “I think it’s okay.” Luther also pitched in, “I agree!” Kane fell silent. No one knew if
he was annoyed or too shy. His face was beet red. Nigel then turned to Laura, “Mrs. Hudson, what do
you think?”
Laura was speechless. Laura might not usually get the joke, but she was flushing red and confused
when everyone called her Mrs. Hudson.
“Nigel, are you asking for a fight?” Seeing that Kane was about to get angry, Sean hurriedly pulled
Nigel to his back. He was afraid that Kane would beat him. Sean snapped at him, “Don’t be so
naughty.” Nigel hid behind Sean and stuck out his tongue at Kane. Sage knew what was about to
happen, so she reminded Laura with a calm face, “Laura, don’t you have something to tell Kane?”
Laura froze for a moment before she remembered it. “Oh, right. Kane, I have something to tell
you.”
“What?”
“We… Let’s go out and talk.” Kane was dumbfounded and nodded in a daze. “Oh. Sure.”
Luther wanted to follow them. “Can’t we listen?”
Nigel teased and echoed, “Exactly. Why can’t we listen?”
Kane turned back with a warning glare. He warned them by making a slit-throat gesture, closed the
ward door, and followed Laura out.
When Kane went outside the ward, he was surprised to see Jace still sitting on the bench outside.
Kane raised his brows, kept his chin up, and put his hands in his pockets. Jace was sitting on the
bench, so Kane had the advantage of being taller than him.
He gave him a condescending look and questioned, “Why are you still here?”
Jace might be tired or weary. He wanted to refute Kane and say that the hospital was not his, but he
held back because Kane was Sage’s second brother.
Despite that, Kane had no plan to hold back. “You arrived just in time to save Sage’s life. I appreciate it,
but that doesn’t mean Sage wants to be with you. Understand?”.
Jace was too tired to talk. He saved Sage, but it was never to blackmail her, let alone to force her.
Kane wanted to say more, but Laura stopped him, “Jace is my old comrade. Be polite.” He swallowed
the stream of expletives that he wanted to say and could only utter, “Oh.”
Laura led Kane to a secluded corridor, but she did not know how to start the conversation.
Kane was a little confused. “What’s wrong? What do you want to tell me?” Somehow, he felt a little
nervous.
