“Hey.”
Yoel got to his feet. Hesitating. Jace stood up too.
Sage was dressed casually today. She wore a light blue blouse, and a pair of white trousers, and on
her feet were a pair of high heels. She had a light grey cardigan tied around her neck.
Though her outfit was simple, she looked sophisticated,
Jace squinted slightly. Sage had never failed to surprise him with something new every time she
showed up, but she had never once acted like the woman he had known
The Sage that he knew had always dressed in warm-toned casual outfits, and she always wore her hair
down or tied up in a bun. She had always presented herself as a good wife.
Jace had never had a problem with that, but it had always felt like she had been pretending to be
someone she was not just so she could please him.
That made him feel uncomfortable.
The person standing in front of him was who she really was.
Even though in the past he felt as if there was a distance between them, now he felt comfortable
around her.
‘You kept us waiting for quite a bit.” Walking toward Sage, Yoel opened his arms and was about to pull
her into a hug when she stopped him by placing her finger against his chest, pushing him away from
her.
With a look of disdain, Sage pulled back her hand and said coldly, “What are you trying to do? Are we
close enough to hug each other by way of greeting?”
Jace, who frowned when Yoel was about to hug Sage, suddenly smiled at Sage’s remarks. He was
pleased that Sage had rejected Yoel.
Unfazed, Yoel flashed Sage a bright smile and winked at her. “Hugging each other is the first step to
getting closer to each other, don’t you think?”
Sage simply walked toward the lift as she had no intentions of getting closer to Yoel.
“Let me know beforehand when you wish to visit. My schedule is not fixed, and I wouldn’t dare to make
you come all the way here for nothing.”
Although she sounded polite, Sage was actually hinting that she was annoyed that they had shown up
unannounced.
After making sure that Jace was following him, Yoel replied, “That’s alright. I’m the type to follow my
heart, and my heart led met o you today. As for why we showed up this early, it’s because Jace had
been rushing me since this morning.”
Sage stepped foot into the designated lift for the CEO, and Yoel followed closely behind. However,
when Jace was about to enter, he was stopped by the bodyguards.
Yoel quickly clarified, “He’s with us.”
He then looked at Sage and added, “Jace is interested in working with us on the horse racing
business.”
With a straight face, Sage glanced at Yoel and said, “I’ve agreed to only work with you.”
“There’s no harm to have another on board, right?” Yoel smiled as he looked at Jace, who was still
standing outside the lift. Yoel tried to hint at him to say something,
The absurd situation nearly made Zayne fly off the handle whereas Jace still looked oddly calm.
“Miss Sage, I would like to work together on the horse racing business.”
Sage turned to look at Jace. With no emotions in her eyes, she studied him and said indifferently, “Who
are you? Why should I work together with you?”
Jace was rendered speechless.
The lift doors slid shut. Jace had been cruelly abandoned by his ex-wife.
A peal of laughter filled the CEO’s office.
Yoel could not hold back the laughter any longer, and he had nearly passed out from laughing too hard.
Many people were staring a thim.
Sage, on the other hand, was glancing at Yoel in disdain. “Are you done?”
“I’m sorry, but I really can’t help it… it’s too funny!”
Yoel was tearing up from all the laughing. He pointed outside and said, “Do you know that it has always
been Jace who gives others the cold shoulder, but you… you… hahaha…” Yoel burst into laughter
again. He then mimicked what Sage had said to Jace earlier, “Who are you? Why should I work with
you?” Giving her a thumbs up, he said, “You’re the best!”
